The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk

The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk

Originally constructed in the 1930’s, Myrtle Beach’s legendary Boardwalk has a long and indelible history. The original wooden Boardwalk was destroyed by Hurricane Hazel in 1954, which gave way to a new concrete based pathway that is still in place today. In 2006, the town voted in favor of upgrading the boardwalk at a cost of $6.4 million dollars. The construction took nearly three years but the brand new Myrtle Beach Boardwalk opened in the summer of 2010, spanning from Pier 14 in the north to Second Avenue Pier in the south. Today, it’s home to live music, the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel, couples strolling alongside the sounds of crashing waves, and weekly summer firework shows that is sure to amaze.
