The Palace Theatre’s “Christmas on Ice” is Sure to Please!

This week my wife and I had the opportunity to see the Palace Theatre of Myrtle Beach's most recent Christmas production, "Christmas on Ice." What better way to start celebrating the Christmas season than enjoying ten championship ice skaters, a tap dancing Santa, world class singers and all in a beautiful theater who flooded its stage to create a 40 ft. ice skating rink!

Without wanting to be a spoiler review, let me highlight a few of my favorite parts of the show. Without any hesitation, my favorite part of the show was Santa's helper who was a comedian mime of sorts. With facial expressions that seem to belong more in a Pixar film than on an emcee, he had us laughing until we cried. Though he didn't make any sounds but grunting and clapping, Santa's little helper is worth the price admission alone. Not to mention at the end of the show, he performs a stunt that I can't even begin to describe, so you'll have to check it out for yourselves.

Additionally, I was exceedingly impressed with the quality of skating. Though a 40 ft ice skating rink may seem huge, it gets quite crowded when you put 10 skaters on it jumping and twirling and throwing back flips. Though I really enjoyed the stand alone quality of skating, I think I was most impressed by the precise choreography needed to avoid a huge icy pile up! It was truly remarkable.

My wife's favorite part about the show was the music. Dozens of your holiday favorites with everything from Santa Baby to Hark the Herald Angels Sing will have your family humming your favorite tunes for weeks to come.

With world-class performers singing your Christmas favorites, skaters throwing back flips on a winter wonderland stage, and gut-wrenching comedy "Christmas on Ice" is truly Myrtle Beach's most unique and exciting Christmas show. What could be a better way to get your family in the Christmas spirit? The Palace Theatre's "Christmas on Ice" gets my heartiest recommendation for you and your family.
