Ways To Celebrate This 4th of July!

This 4th of July the Grand Strand will have plenty of opportunities for you to celebrate the biggest holiday of the summer! From fireworks to parades and live entertainment, here are the top 7 (we couldn't settle for just 5) things to do this year in Myrtle Beach and surrounding areas July 4th weekend!

1. Murrells Inlet 4th of July Boat Parade & Fireworks Display

The 28th annual July 4th Boat Parade kicks off at 10am from the Garden City Point. The theme of the parade this year is "Ride the Inlet Wave of Freedom." The parade will head over to the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk and continue on all the way to the Hot Fish Club. The best places to set up camp for viewing the parade are the Marshwalk, Nance's Restaurant, Belin Methodist Church, Captain Pooh's Restaurant and Hot Fish Club.

Want to be in the boat parade? Register at Booty's Outdoors, Garden City Reality, or Captain Dick's from June 15th through July 3rd. T-shirts will be sold at Booty's Outdoors, Garden City Realty and Conway National Bank in Murrells Inlet.

Following the parade will be a fireworks display, shot off from the end of the Veteran's Pier, scheduled to begin at 10pm.

2. Surfside Beach's 4th of July celebration

On July 4th from 6-10PM, the Surfside Beach Pier will hold their annual 4th of July Celebration. Sure to be fun for the whole family, the event will feature concessions sold by the Surfside Area Fire and Emergency Responders, inflatables and water pool slide, performers from the Celebrations Theatre, 4th of July T-Shirts for sale, and Fireworks at 9:30PM. Be sure to BYOC (bring your own chair) and join in on the festivities all night long!

3. Italian Festival "Salute to the Fourth" at Market Common

Sounds a little off right? An Italian festival to celebrate America's Freedom? A little strange but we'll go with it because Market Common events never fail to please!

The Market Common is bringing us activities and action all weekend long starting on Saturday morning at 7am with the 2nd Annual Independence Day Run. Athletes and running enthusiasts alike can join in on their choice of an 8k or 5k run starting and finishing at The Grand Park. For a small price, you can win big bucks if you finish in the top 4 places overall. Just register by the morning of the race!

And that's only the beginning! Following the race, Market Common will have events starting at noon with live music, trivia games, Italian foods, two dozen art vendors, Italian-themed souvenir booth, beer and wine, free tattoos and face painting for the kids, fireworks at night and much, much more!

The event continues through Sunday, July 3rd at 7:30pm!

4. The 19th Annual Fireworks display at The Cherry Grove Fishing Pier

If you're down on the North end of the Grand Strand for the fourth, be sure to catch the huge fireworks display at the Cherry Grove Fishing Pier located at 3500 N. Ocean Blvd in the Cherry Grove section of North Myrtle Beach. The pier spans 1/4 mile off the coast and makes for a beautiful display. Other activities will be going on on the boulevard this night also so be sure to bring your beach chair and enjoy July 4th in Cherry Grove!

5. Fireworks Display at Broadway at the Beach

Broadway has been around for years and is a hit on all occasions. For the 4th of July, come out to the fair-like atmosphere for plenty of family fun, music, entertainment, and a spectacular fireworks show starting at 10:00pm. Before the show starts, be sure to take a stroll around Broadway at the Beach and take advantage of all the restaurants, shops, and attractions the area has to offer!

6. Fireworks Display at 2nd Avenue Pier

2nd Avenue Pier is one of the newest "hot spots" on the Boulevard. Located on Ocean Avenue at 2nd Avenue North, the newly-renovated pier offers a casual restaurant overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, a rooftop-open-air bar with refreshing cocktails and comfortable couches, and the longest walking pier in Myrtle Beach. Located along the new Boardwalk and Promenade, the pier will be one of the best spots to be this 4th of July, so bring out your chairs, family and friends, and enjoy one of the best fireworks shows on the beach this holiday starting at 9:30!

7. Salute from the Shore

For this event, you don't even have to be in Myrtle Beach to participate! All along the South Carolina shore, people will be showing their appreciation for the troops by standing along the coastline and saluting as F-16 planes fly over from the bottom of the state to the top!

This is a unique chance for families and friends to salute our armed forces and their families while celebrating Independence Day on the beaches of South Carolina. The main event is a coastal flyover by F-16 fighter jets to honor all active and retired military and they need your help! The event wants 1 million people to salute from the shore by having beachgoers wave patriotic items and flags as the jets go by.

If you can't make it to the beach at 1:00pm on July 4th, you can still participate by sending a video or picture to salute@salutefromtheshore.org to be added to the film being put together to send to the troops to let them see first hand all the support they have behind them.

There will also be a contest in place for the "best beach display." To enter, send pictures or video of this display also to the same email address as above along with your name and phone number!
