Waccatee ZooDid you know that there is a zoo in Myrtle Beach? Most people probably don’t, as it’s off the beaten path but it’s one of the area’s best-kept secrets! This zoo is surely a must-see Myrtle Beach attraction during your vacation.

The Waccatee Zoo is perfect for the entire family. Bring a picnic lunch and eat at a picnic table or enjoy snacks from the concessions stand and plan to spend the whole afternoon wandering around the zoo and interacting with the animals.

This zoo offers a unique experience compared to larger zoos in other cities as it allows its visitors to get up close to many of the animals and even offers bags of peanuts and other food for purchase so that visitors can even feed the animals! Also, wagons can be rented for those with small children in case they get tired of walking.

Waccatee ZooYou will feel like you are in the animals’ true habitat when you walk along natural paths as a peacock struts by or stroll over a wooden bridge as an alligator swims below and migratory egrets and herons nest in the overhanging trees. The zoo is home to a variety of animals including water buffalo, eland, zebra, camels, kangaroos, pigs, birds and monkeys.

The Waccatee Zoo has more than 100 species of animals and is spread out over 50 acres accessible to the public with 1.5 miles of trails. The zoo is privately owned and provides love and care to all their animals.

The zoo is located at 8500 Enterprise Rd., Myrtle Beach and is open 7-days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting. So pack up the family today and check out this wonderful Myrtle Beach attraction!
