Best Myrtle Beach Resorts for Snowbirds

Winter sets in the snowbirds begin to head south, and in recent years Myrtle Beach has been one of their favorite destinations. The Grand Strand experiences pretty warm weather during the winter months, and there are many stylish oceanfront vacation homes, apartments and condos to choose from.

There’s plenty to keep oneself occupied in Myrtle Beach too, whatever your age. During the winter months you’ll find numerous events and activities, sometimes even more than in summertime.

Several Vacation Myrtle Beach resorts are particularly snowbird-friendly, and you can find a number of special monthly rates for the winter months.

South Wind on the Ocean is a favorite with snowbirds. All of the condos have recently been renovated and have been fitted with new lavish furnishings. The bathrooms and kitchens all feature new granite tops. The condos here range from single bedroom up to five bedroom, and you’ll find the corridors and pools peaceful. Guests also have access to the resort's fully equipped gym and the condos are within easy reach of the area's best attractions, including several of the best golf courses in the SC.

Ocean Creek, another Myrtle Beach resort popular with snowbirds, sits in its own 57 acres with a 24 hour gated entrance. Spend some time sauntering along the walks and drives beneath the historic moss-draped oaks. This resort has its own tennis courts and there is a restaurant to visit-- the Four Seasons with its unique menu!

Landmark Resort is another Myrtle Beach resort featuring two of its own eating places. The Gazebo Restaurant serves breakfast, either from the buffet or to order, the year round, and the recently renovated Latitudes is open daily for lunch and dinner. Landmark is a perfect couple’s retreat with a 9-hole mini golf course and 17 outdoor and indoor water attractions. The resort is close to the area’s shopping and attractions and if you fly into town they offer a free airport shuttle service.

Forest Dunes is a completely non-smoking resort, so here you can make the best of the healthy ocean air by strolling leisurely along the resort's oceanside exercise trail. The resort has one and three bedroom apartments, all of which come with a fully equipped kitchen. You can also snack in the resort’s Buckets Bar and Grill.

Carolina Winds has winter specials for snowbirds from November 1 through March 31. As long as you stay for at least 28 days you will qualify for a monthly rate, which are very reasonable. Monthly guests qualify for free local and 800 calls, a complimentary newspaper every day, which you can pick up at the front desk, in-room coffee, and free high speed Wi-Fi. You do have to arrive on the first day of the month to qualify for monthly rates.

Myrtle Beach is an excellent destination for snowbirds. This part of South Carolina has more to offer than Florida, the weather is pleasant, and the area’s attractions are almost limitless!
