Though the beach is certainly the main attraction in Myrtle Beach during the summer, the area does offer several great ways to take a break from the sun and the sand. Well known for offering an impressive array of family attractions, visitors can enjoy everything from a rousing baseball game to free local events.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans Baseball

This minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs plays all summer long and is a favorite among visitors and locals alike. The Pelicans definitely know how to put on a show, with between-inning games and entertainment that are sure to keep your crew happy. And, the Pelicans also offer great mid-week promotions, including: $2sDay BrewsDay ($2 craft beer draughts, 6pm - 8pm), Wiener Wednesday (BOGO Hebrew National hotdogs), and Thirsty Thursday ($1 domestic draughts, 6pm - 8pm). The Pelicans also host other ongoing promotions, like pre-game autograph sessions, post-game running of the bases, fireworks, theme nights, and much more (dates and times vary). A trip to a Myrtle Beach Pelicans game will definitely be an evening to remember!

 

Family Kingdom Seaside Amusement Park

Guests of all ages are sure to enjoy the thrilling rides and interactive games offered at Family Kingdom, the area’s only seaside amusement park! Open seasonally in the spring through the fall, Family Kingdom offers more carnival-style rides than any other Myrtle Beach attraction. Visitors can enjoy favorites like the log flume water ride, sling shot, tilt-a-whirl, bumper boats, carousel, go-karts, and the famous swamp fox roller coaster. Where else can you hop on your favorite ride and also take in stunning ocean views? Visitors can also enjoy fun family games and carnival style snacks during their visit.

Soar to new heights by taking a leisurely ride along the east coast’s second largest Ferris wheel, located right here in the heart of Myrtle Beach. This oversized ride lives up to the hype with 42 spacious, climate-controlled gondolas that can easily fit up to 6 guests, ensuring a safe and comfortable ride. Guests will soar 187 feet into the air, which, as you might imagine, provides spectacular views of the ocean and the downtown surroundings. The flight is three full revolutions and usually lasts about 10 minutes, making it an easy stop during an afternoon or evening exploring the bustling Boardwalk. Visit in the late afternoon to catch a stunning sunset or at night to see an amazing light show! It’s not hard to figure out why the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel is so popular!



 

Top Summer Events In Myrtle Beach


Myrtle Beach Boardwalk’s Hot Summer Nights | June 12th - September 4th

Hot Summer Nights is a favorite among our guests with tons to do all week. And the best part is most of it is free and it is right downtown in the heart of the Grand Strand.

Mondays 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.: Kids Carnival in Plyler Park with giant inflatables, face painting, games and balloon art. There will also be live performances by all kid talent.

Wednesdays 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.: Live music on the Blu Energy and I Love Sugar stages.

Fridays 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.: Live music and concerts on the I Love Sugar stage with a variety of top bands.

Sundays: Celebration Concert series featuring Contemporary Christian Rock on the I Love Sugar stage in Plyler Park.

You will also be able to see strolling street performers on many nights such as Elvis, Darth Vador, Mutant Ninja Turtles and more!

The Sun Fun Festival | June 2nd - 3rd

It’s back! After a short hiatus, the Sun Fun Festival is back as an annual Myrtle Beach tradition! This two-day event takes places along the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk on Friday, June 2nd and Saturday, June 3rd. Friday evening will host the official kick-off party with live entertainment, carnival games, face painting, roaming street performers, and much more. The fun will pick back up on Saturday morning with the highly anticipated Sun Fun Parade, local vendors, live music and entertainment, and plenty of fun for the whole family. This event is free to attend and runs from 4 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. on Friday and then 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. on Saturday.


Carolina Country Music Fest | June 8th - 11th

It was a huge success last year and is set to be another fantastic line-up this year from June 9th – 11th with a Thursday Kick-Off Show on June 8th. Some of Country’s top names will be taking the main stage. This year’s headliners are:
