Christmas in Myrtle Beach

By Vacation Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach may not have the snowy landscape that many people associate with the holidays, but we think Christmas in Myrtle Beach is one of the best times of year here. No messy snow to deal with, just all the great holiday cheer. Here are some of the ways you can celebrate Christmas in Myrtle Beach.

The Alabama Theatre Christmas Show is known as The South's Grandest Christmas Show and is a tradition for locals and vacationers alike. With some of the best performances of classic holiday songs you can find, spectacular costumes and sets and family-friendly humor, this show will get anyone in the holiday spirit. There are no performances on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, but if you can find a seat in the shows immediately before or after the holiday, you won’t be sorry you did. And if you’re staying at a VMB hotel you can use your Myrtle Beach discounts card to get free admission for two children ages 16 and under per paid adult as well as 10% off anything in the gift shop.

The Palace Theatre Christmas Show is the newest addition to Myrtle Beach’s holiday show repertoire. The Hot Jersey Nights Christmas Special features Four Seasons style performances of classic holiday songs, as well as Four Seasons favorites. The show is performed through December 21. By going on Dec. 19 you’ll not only get some great holiday tunes in your head and heart, but also you’ll be helping support a great cause. Every ticket sold for that day will have part of the profit donated to the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club.

If a holiday themed show isn’t really your thing, you can also spend Christmas at WonderWorks, giving your mind some gifts. Wonderworks will be open on Christmas Eve from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as Christmas Day at noon.

Or you can do some very last minute Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve at the Hard Rock Café gift shop. The café will be open until 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day.

But there are a handful of restaurants that will be open on Christmas Day that you can visit for your holiday meal. You can see the complete list of those options in our Christmas Dinner in Myrtle Beach blog post.

For a super festive Christmas Eve or Day, Shadracks Christmas Wonderland will also be at 6 p.m.,on both dyas making it the perfect stop after an early Christmas supper, or before a late Christmas dinner.

Or Ripley's Aquarium will also be open, giving you a chance to visit their Festival of Trees exhibit, featuring trees decorated with the theme of each of the 50 states.

These are just some of the things going on in Myrtle Beach on and around Christmas. Keep an eye here and on our Myrtle Beach events page for more ideas for how you can celebrate your holiday at the beach.
