FAQ: What are the best ways to get around Myrtle Beach without a car?

By Samantha Norton

Ways to get around Myrtle Beach without a car include biking.

If you didn’t drive to Myrtle Beach you may find yourself here without a car to get around. Don’t worry, because there are plenty of ways to get around Myrtle Beach without your own vehicle.

Airport Shuttle

If you flew into Myrtle Beach – maybe you got a great deal with Spirit Airlines or WestJet – then you may want to see if your resort has an airport shuttle with a minimal fee of $5 per person to get you to the hotel. Not all resorts offer this, but Landmark Resort does offer this amenity to their guests. If you plan on spending a lot of time at your resort when you arrive, chances are you won’t even miss having your car!

Biking

You can rent bikes from several bike rental companies in Myrtle Beach, for day use or longer. By renting a bike you can easily get to nearby restaurants and attractions without even needing a car.

Moped or Scooter

If you want to get around but don’t want to worry about filling up your car with gas time and time again, then renting a moped or scooter may be your best bet. Some of these rental places even offer you a discount with your VMB discount card which is located right on the back of your room key; including Moped Rentals of Myrtle Beach and EagleRider Motorcycle and Scooter Rental.

Grab A Cab

If you think you will be spending most of your vacation enjoying the beach at your resort and splashing in the pools, you probably won’t have to leave very often. But when you do need to go somewhere you can call up a cab. There are many cab companies here in Myrtle Beach so finding one to take you where you need to go shouldn’t be difficult. Plus, if you show your discounts card you can get a deal with Rockstar Cab during your next vacation!

Uber or Lyft

Tech-savvy visitors are sure to be familiar with ridesharing apps like Uber or Lyft. Both of these popular transportation companies are both present in Myrtle Beach - simply download the appropriate app and hail your ride! Keep in mind, however, the risk of "surge pricing" that might kick in during particularly busy times, like special events or holidays.

Walking

If your resort is near attractions and dining then you may find that you can walk to a lot of places! Whether you decide to walk on the beach or stroll down Ocean Boulevard and people-watch, walking in Myrtle Beach is not only good exercise, but it’s scenic too! Take a look at our Myrtle Beach area map that can show you what is close to your resort.

Take the Bus

Myrtle Beach has a local bus system called Coast RTA. Their schedule varies based on season and runs various routes including up and down parts of Ocean Boulevard and throughout Myrtle Beach. By planning ahead and knowing which routes you will need you can make the most out of your time in Myrtle Beach.

Resort Suggestions

While all of our resorts are conveniently located and a short distance from most of Myrtle Beach’s popular attractions and dining, there are some resorts that are located closer, allowing you to take advantage of the beautiful weather and walk. Captain’s Quarters Resort and hotel BLUE are both a short distance from Family Kingdom Amusement Park, the Myrtle Beach Skywheel and the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. Crown Reef Beach Resort and Waterpark is located a short walk from delicious dining at Damon’s Grill and just steps from one of Myrtle Beach’s most popular water sports options, Downwind Sails Watersports.
