FAQ: What is There to Do in Myrtle Beach in the Winter?

By Megan Burke

So much! Myrtle Beach continues to be an attractive vacation destination in winter, when lower accommodation rates act as a magnet, particularly with snowbirds escaping from the colder northern states so many of the Grand Strand’s popular attractions stay open during the winter.

You can still enjoy a visit to Ripley’s Aquarium, and many of the other Ripley attractions in Myrtle Beach like the 3D Theater, Mirror Maze and the Odditorium/Museum.

Brookgreen Gardens, just to the south of Murrells Inlet – about a 20 minute drive from the south end of Myrtle Beach, is another great attraction that is open year round. The gardens hold more than 1,400 pieces of sculpture by more than 350 American sculptors as well as a zoo.

Horses on the beach in myrtle beachDuring winter months you can take a horseback ride along the equestrian trail in Myrtle Beach State Park or along the beach or book a ride with Inlet Point Plantation!

Another big attraction for Myrtle Beach are its nearly 100 golf courses, many of which stay open throughout the winter months. The courses along the Grand Strand are among the best in the world, and the mild winter temperatures make for a great time of year to hit these courses.

There are also a number of theaters in Myrtle Beach and always several shows to take in, no matter the time of year. These include Legends in Concert, where you can see a live tribute to some of the greatest entertainers of our time, the Alabama Theatre and the Palace Theatre as well as regular great bands performing at the House of Blues.

These are just a few of the things there are to do during a winter trip to Myrtle Beach. But if you need more ideas for things you can do during the winter in Myrtle Beach just visit our events page and pick out one or two of the ones that sound best to you.
