Myrtle Beach Itinerary: Nature and Heritage

If you enjoy outdoor adventures and American history, then Myrtle Beach is guaranteed to deliver as your next vacation destination.

Jam packed with local, national, and even international history, the areas surrounding Myrtle Beach provide visitors with a number of options for outdoor historical exploration.

Check out this sample itinerary if you are looking to plan your vacation around nature and heritage for a long weekend in Myrtle Beach:

Wednesday

  • Afternoon: Check-in at your resort.
  • Late Afternoon: Walk along the oceanfront Boardwalk.
  • Dinner: Have dinner at Moe Moons.
  • Evening: Relax poolside at your resort, or soak in the hot tub.

Thursday

  • Breakfast: Have breakfast at Croissants Bistro and Bakery.
  • Morning: Pick up a map at the Conway visitor center and explore and shop historic Conway.
  • Lunch: Have lunch at The Trestle in Downtown Conway.
  • Afternoon: Take a walk along the River Walk and enjoy the scenery and sounds of the Waccamaw River. Or, take a boat tour of the river aboard Captain Jim’s River Memories.
  • Dinner: Dine at Rivertown Bistro.
  • Evening: See a show at The Theater of the Republic.

Friday

  • Breakfast: Have breakfast at your resort.
  • Morning: Wander around Brookgreen Gardens and take in the botanical beauty and learn the local history of the land.
  • Lunch: Have lunch at Brookgreen’s quaint, onsite restaurant, the Pavilion.
  • Afternoon: Take a pontoon boat ride tour of Brookgreen’s historic rice fields.
  • Dinner: On the way back to your resort, stop at Creek Ratz along the MarshWalk in Murrells Inlet.
  • Evening: Stroll along the MarshWalk and have a drink while taking in some live music.

Saturday

  • Breakfast: Grab a bite for the road at Kudzu Bakery in Pawleys Island.
  • Morning: Take a tour of the historic Hopsewee Plantation just south of Georgetown.
  • Lunch: Enjoy a Lowcountry lunch and some Southern inspired tea at in the plantation’s Tea Room.
  • Afternoon: Sign up for Hopsewee’s sweetgrass basket class and make your own sweetgrass basket.
  • Dinner: Dine at the Inlet Crab House in Murrells Inlet on the way back to your resort.
  • Evening: Relax on the beach near your resort.

Sunday

  • Breakfast: Have breakfast at your resort
  • Morning: Go to Myrtle Beach State Park and take a tour of the park.
  • Lunch: Have a beach picnic at the park.
  • Afternoon: Rent fishing gear from the park and fish from the pier.
  • Dinner: Have dinner and enjoy a beer at the Gordon Biersch Brewery.
  • Evening: Hang around Market Common and enjoy some shopping and outdoor atmosphere.

Monday

  • Morning: Pack up and check out of your resort.
  • Brunch: Have brunch oceanfront at the Sea Captain’s House on your way out of town.
