Myrtle Beach News: North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex

By Samantha Norton

North Myrtle Beach’s Park and Sports Complex opened in 2014 and held many tournaments and events since its’ opening. The facility is a 145 acre park and sports complex and recreation complex suited for a variety or sports and nature enthusiasts.

Home to the 2014 Quidditch World Cup, the site can accommodate a range of sports and events, such as baseball, basketball, cheerleading, football, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, soccer, softball and volleyball. There are approximately six fields dedicated to youth, high school, and collegiate baseball and softball, and eight batting tunnels. For the soccer and lacrosse lover there are eight fields dedicated to those sports.

There are 100s of events planned on the fields for 2015, including adult softball and soccer leagues!  Each field has umpire prep rooms and even has misting fans in each dugout. Don’t forget to stop at the concession stand for ballpark classics like hot dogs and cracker jacks! Interested in Ultimate Frisbee? The park will be hosting four weeks of High Tide Ultimate Frisbee tournaments in March!

The park side of the complex boasts picnic shelters, three playgrounds, walking and bike trails and picnic shelters.

Relax in the 10 acre meadow, or bring your kayak out and take a loop around the 25 acre lake.

There are two dog parks; one park is for big dogs while the other park is for smaller dogs. This is the first dog park North Myrtle Beach has ever had, so grab your leash and head out for some open fields for Fido to play in.

Located inside the complex is also an amphitheater to host outdoor concerts.

There is something to do for every one of all ages. Take your family and your favorite lunch and dine outdoors this weekend and then let your kids tire themselves out running around the open meadow.

If you are just bored you can head over and are practically guaranteed to find a lively baseball or softball game being played.
