Myrtle Beach Show Leaves Audience In Awe
I had seen Carl Michael perform once before and his show was very impressive. It left me wanting to see more. Now that he is performing a full show at the Landmark Resort two nights a week, two shows per night, with lots of new illusions, I knew I wanted to see him perform again.
Carl made it a point to engage the audience throughout the entire show. Gasps and edge of the seat excitement filled the air as each illusion and trick was performed.
One of his opening illusions dealt with an egg and a silk. With the audience trying to guess how he did the trick, he said he would break one of the rules of magic, which is to never give away the secret of how a trick is done. He went through the steps so that anyone, with the right materials, could do that very same trick at home. Some audience members were excited to see the secret while others found themselves disappointed as some of the “magic” was taken out of it. But, no worries, because it was Carl’s plan all along to divulge one secret while awing the crowd with another. As he exposed his trick he ended it quite differently than the audience had expected, as one lady in the crowd shouted out “You restored my faith!” to Carl.
Later in the show he performed a trick called the Puzzle Box where his assistant Kaitlin put her fate in his hands as she climbed into a box that was hardly big enough for a
person to fit in the first place. One by one, Carl manipulated the box so that there were huge open gaps in it and hardly any of the original shape of the box was left, making you wonder where she could possibly go.
Carl performed a variety of other tricks (and I don’t want to give them all away!) and every single one was just as impressive and mind-boggling as the next. Whether you want to watch and try to figure out how on earth he did each trick (which believe me, you won’t be able to figure it out) or sit in wonder and just enjoy the illusions being performed in front of you, this show if perfect for the young and the old and everyone in between. He put his thoughts about magic best when he said this during his show: “It’s supposed to spark that childlike memory in your mind.”
Each trick was like a story, with a beginning, middle and end. Visually appealing, they often ended in what felt like a cliff-hanger prompted by cheers from the audience as only understanding what had just happened would truly feel like an ending.
One of the best things about his show, beside the amazing illusions, is the audience involvement that Carl provides throughout the show.
Through audience interaction and even taking volunteers from the crowd, his show makes you feel like you have been part of something bigger and more magical than yourself.
Through a mix of slight-of-hand, pure talent, science and comedy, Carl Michael’s Illusion and Magic Show should not be missed. Your family won’t be able to see any other magic that goes to this extent on the Grand Strand. In fact, Carl Michael has performed all over the country including Las Vegas.
