Visitors flock to our shores each summer to enjoy the sun, salt, and sand. If you’re looking for an exciting end-of-summer event that incorporates all three of these elements, look no farther than the Native Sons Salt Games!

A two-day event over the weekend of September 15th, The Salt Games is an action-packed 48 hours that offers something for everyone! The open schedule features events all day long for the entire weekend, making it easy to come and go as you please.

Native Sons Salt Games Myrtle Beach LogoThe games kick off bright and early Saturday morning with the Ron Jon Pro/Am Surf Off starting at 6:00 a.m. If staying dry is more your speed, check out the Beach Volleyball competition, the CrossFit Myrtle Beach Coastal Clash, or the Beach Bum 5k, which is great for families. Other Saturday events include the Surf Dreams ‘Guppies’ Surfing, the Boulevard Blowout skating competition, and BMX at the Beach. For a more leisurely sport, head over to RipTydz to watch or participate in the Cornhole Tournament, a new addition for 2018!

All of Saturday's events will spill over into Sunday, which will be the final and most intense day of competition.

And, while The Salt Games draws impressive crowds over the two-day affair, competitive guests are welcome to register and participate in the various events. There are team events and individual competitions, and each event has different requirements and fees. Be sure to check the website in advance for more information.

It wouldn’t be a festival without food, especially when competitors need to refuel, so The Salt Games is proud to host a wide array of local and regional food trucks. This year’s culinary lineup includes favorites like Jersey Dogs, Benito’s Rolling Over, Charleston Flats, and Sticky Fingers. Need a pick-me-up? Grab a caffeinated beverage from the Roasted Bean Machine. What about appeasing that sweet tooth? They’ve got that covered too with decadent treats from King of Pops, Crave Cupcake Boutique, and Sno Bar.

Though the food truck options are perfect for noshing on the go, the best part about The Salt Games is inarguably the downtown location, which offers close proximity to a slew of attractions and restaurants along the famous Boardwalk. Take a break and grab a seat at one of the nearby eateries like ART Burger Sushi Bar, Moe Moons, or Ocean Front Bar & Grill.

The Boardwalk also offers plenty of entertainment options when you need a break from the festival action. Kick back and cool off with a seat in a climate-controlled gondola on the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel. Or, reconnect with your inner kid at one of the Boardwalk’s nostalgic arcades. No matter your mood, there’s plenty to keep your group busy during the event!

The great location, beautiful end-of-summer weather, and bustling event make a great excuse to plan a trip! As the official hotel sponsor, we are offering up to 30% off your stay!
