The 2018 Myrtle Beach Boardwalk Bonanza

By Megan Burke

Summer is in full swing and Myrtle Beach is bustling with exciting family events - including a brand-new family affair! The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk Bonanza is an exciting new addition to this summer’s event list and you won’t want to miss out on the fun! As the name suggests, the beach bonanza will take place along the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, a popular downtown destination. The new event launches on July 4th and will continue every Wednesday and Thursday evening through the end of August.

The theme for Wednesdays is ‘fitness, food trucks, and fireworks’ and will offer visitors several fun events to choose from. The fun starts with a beach Olympics line-up, which will include a variety of familiar and new beach favorites, like cornhole, limbo, tug-of-war, and much more. Or, if a battle of wits is more your style, take part in the weekly trivia contest. After you’ve worked up an appetite, head over to Ocean Boulevard to visit one of the many food truck vendors that will be hanging out for guests to enjoy. Vendors will vary weekly and include a mix of local and out-of-town trucks. Wrap up the day with a spectacular fireworks display over the ocean at 10 pm.

On Thursdays, beach visitors will have the chance to show off their skills in a live talent show. Prizes will be offered, so come prepared to impress!

In addition to the scheduled events above, each evening will also include live entertainment, including DJ performances, variety shows, karaoke contests, and performances from local artists. There will also be an expansive kids area with tons of kid-friendly activities, like face painting, games, and more. Each week will offer something new and exciting, with several hours of good, old-fashioned family fun.

The Beach Boardwalk Bonanza is free to attend and will take place each Wednesday and Thursday from 4 pm - 9 pm.

Of course, this is just one of many free weekly events that take place along the boardwalk. The new beach bonanza is an expansion of ‘Hot Summer Nights’, a popular series of family-friendly events that takes place in various spots along the boardwalk from June through August.

The 2018 Hot Summer Nights schedule includes:

* Monday - Live DJ and Kidz Carnival

* Tuesday - Live music at Plyler Park

* Wednesday - Live music at Plyler Park & Beach Bonanza

* Thursday - Live entertainment, DJ and dancing & Beach Bonanza

* Friday - Karaoke contest

* Saturday - Live music at Plyler Park

* Sunday - Family game show

Visitors to any of the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk events are invited to join in on the fun with family and friends! Come play a few games and catch some tunes before perusing the boardwalk for the evening or sit around and stay a while to take in all of the exciting action. Guests are welcome to bring chairs and blankets to settle in for a night full of fun!

As noted, all events are free to attend. There are no tickets to purchase or advanced planning required, simply head downtown to the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk to see what all the buzz is about!
