Vacation Myrtle Beach Hotel Spotlight: Crown Reef

By Megan Burke

Crown Reef new slides renderingCrown Reef is the newest member of the Vacation Myrtle Beach resort group but this resort has been a staple among Myrtle Beach oceanfront hotels for years. But there are lots of changes coming over the Spring of 2014 for this property as the rooms, dining options and amenities are being renovated and updated.

There are over 500 rooms at Crown Reef, making it one of the largest resorts in the VMB resort group, and all of those rooms are being updated this spring. They’ll have new furnishings, new mattresses, new bedspreads, renovated kitchens, a flat screen TV in each unit and a fresh coat of paint. These great new additions are being made on top of the room amenities already offered at Crown Reef, like a private balcony with views of the ocean, free wireless internet and more. In fact, all guests who stay at Crown Reef Resort now will get a newly updated room! For more details on the room renovations you can check out the Crown Reef Room Updates blog post.

Aside from the rooms itself, Crown Reef also has a ton to offer guests thanks to its many amenities.  There are more than 20 water features at Crown Reef for guests to enjoy, from the 125-foot oceanfront pool to the hot tubs strategically placed around the property to allow for quick relaxing dips. Aside from having some of the most water features, Crown Reef also has some of the largest- like the 575 foot lazy river that is the longest oceanfront lazy river in Myrtle Beach. But the resort wasn’t satisfied with just having the most and the biggest- it also had to have the best! Work is underway on two giant slides that will be almost 40 feet tall and around 300 feet long. These slides will make up a waterpark area at the resort that will also include a kiddie slide that will be about 8 feet tall and 20 feet long, set to be complete by the Summer of 2014.

All that playing and sliding is enough to make any vacationer hungry and Crown Reef is also adding some new dining options in 2014. The new Town Center on the Lobby Level of the resort will have a coffee bar, an ice cream shop and the 2nd location of the Loco Gecko Beach Shak. The first location is near Captain’s Quarters Resort and has been feeding happy Myrtle Beach residents and guests burgers, pizzas, sandwiches and drinks for around 2 years now.

The Town Center also features a new arcade, open now! For more about the amenities that are being added to Crown Reef read their New Amenities Coming Soon blog.

Crown Reef’s oceanfront location and family-friendly atmosphere have made it a favorite among Myrtle Beach vacationers for years and all of these updates will only serve to make it even more enjoyable for guests of all kinds!
