VMB Card Partner Spotlight: Brookgreen Gardens

VMB Card Spotlight - Brookgreen Gardens

Here on the Grand Strand, we have plenty of attractions, shows, shops, and restaurants, but one of the biggest and best places we have is Brookgreen Gardens.

Brookgreen Gardens, a National Historic Landmark, has the most significant collection of sculptures, an abundance of wildlife, and an interesting history. It is also home to the only zoo accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums on the coast of the Carolinas.

The Gardens have 9,100 acres of property all commited to natural landscaping and numerous different "themes." The Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington Sculpture Garden was designed by Anna Hyatt Huntington herself and is in the shape of a spread wing butterfly. Within this garden, are four "wings" that contain an array of perennials, roses, shrubs, and mature trees.

The Dogwood Garden, The Fountain of the Muses Garden, The Labyrinth at Brookgreen, and the Arboretum all serve as different gardens with different earthly treasures.

One highlight of Brookgreen Gardnens is their event calendar. Currently through August 12 they are having "Cool Summer Evenings" which consists of a dinner and show on nights when they are open until 9pm. Live entertainment and cruises down the creeks are all part of the event! They also are celebrating their 80th Anniversary with a Celebration Show entitled "Here, There, & Everywhere: A Tribute to the Beatles." The show will take place on August 19, 20 & 21 under the big tent in the Arboretrum.
