Indigo Farms Offers Nighttime Hay Rides, Bonfires, and Birthday Parties
For a different kind of adventure visit Indigo Farms in Calabash, NC on your next trip to the beach. There you will enjoy the night sky & fellowship with your group around a bonfire. Roast hot dogs and marshmallows and enjoy singing, and easy conversation. Afterward you can take a hay ride through the fields, orchards, around ponds, and into a wooded area. You can even plan a special birthday party where kids can enjoy the animals, and special activities designed just for them.Three different types of sites available for picnicking; secluded, barnyard, or sheltered. The secluded site (site 1) is isolated with covered bridge and no electricity. The barnyard site (site 2) is in a pine grove near the barnyard. This site works well for families with younger children. The sheltered site (site 3) is under a covered shed with concrete floor and restrooms close by. It is not for rowdy young people!
The firewood, hay ride, picnic tables and restrooms (located at market) are provided. You will need to bring your food, drinks (no alcohol), picnic supplies and clothes hangers (for the hotdogs and marshmallows). This is an open fire so hotdogs work better than hamburgers. Some have enjoyed bringing oysters. Allow time to set up before it gets too dark. You may want to eat first and ride afterward, please let us know when you make reservations.
Hay Rides begin at 6:00, 7:00, or 8:00 pm. The rides last 30-40 minutes. Scheduled nights are most Thursday, Friday, & Saturdays in OCTOBER & NOVEMBER. Some Sat. nights are filled. Please observe when the sunset occurs- OCTOBER is around 7:30; NOVEMBER is about 6:30. If there are small children, come early and visit the animal barn.
Farm Birthday Parties are also available. Farm parties include picnic tables out in the barnyard, visiting the barnyard animals, and access to pick your own activities that are seasonably available. In the fall a maze and corn stalk tepee are available. Coloring books are provided for each person. There are ample props for pictures including scarecrows, a hand pump, hay maze, etc. Clean up after the party is included.
