Best Myrtle Beach Resorts for Snowbirds

By Vacation Myrtle Beach

Winter sets in the snowbirds begin to head south, and Myrtle Beach has been one of their favorite destinations for years. The Grand Strand experiences pretty warm weather during the winter months, especially when compared to some of the northern states that see snow and freezing temperatures by October, and there are many stylish oceanfront vacation homes, apartments and condos to choose from.

There’s plenty to do to keep occupied in Myrtle Beach too, whatever your age and whatever the time of year. During the winter months you’ll find numerous events and activities, sometimes even more than in summertime.

Several Vacation Myrtle Beach resorts are particularly snowbird-friendly, and you can find a number of special monthly rates for the winter months. Here are some of the area favorites for snowbirds:

Ocean Creek - A Myrtle Beach resort that is very popular with snowbirds, Ocean Creek sits in its own 57 acres with a 24 hour gated entrance. Spend some time sauntering along the walks and drives beneath the historic moss-draped oaks and enjoying the mild South Carolina weather. This resort has its own tennis courts and breakfast can be enjoyed without leaving the resort grounds thanks to the southern-style offerings at the Four Season!

South Wind on the Ocean - This resort is top pick for snowbirds. All of the condos have lavish but comfortable furnishings and all have. The bathrooms and kitchens all feature new granite tops. The condos here range from single bedroom up to five bedrooms, and you’ll find the corridors and pools peaceful, as well as the beach. Guests also have access to the resort's fully equipped gym and the condos are within easy reach of the area's best attractions, including several of the best golf courses in the SC.

Forest Dunes - This resort is a favorite for many snowbirds and other Myrtle Beach visitors because it is a completely non-smoking resort.  You can take full advantage of all that healthy ocean air by strolling leisurely along the nearby oceanside exercise trail, or by playing golf at the nearby Pine Lakes Country Club. The resort has one and three bedroom apartments, all of which come with a fully equipped kitchen, though the resort is also located close to many great area restaurants.

Carolina Winds - Carolina Winds loves snowbirds and has a winter rental special made just for snowbirds every year from November 1 through March 31. As long as you stay for at least 28 days you will qualify for a monthly rate, which can work out to as little as $25 a day! Guests do have to arrive on the first day of the month to qualify for monthly rates but Carolina Winds offers so much to do (indoor pools, tennis, whirlpools and more) that a full month will fly by.

Myrtle Beach is an excellent destination for snowbirds. This part of South Carolina has more to offer than Florida, the weather is pleasant, and the area’s attractions are almost limitless!
