Best Rides in Myrtle Beach

By Vacation Myrtle Beach

There’s an amusement park or family fun center around every corner in Myrtle Beach, it seems. But, some rides are not to be missed. Don’t check out of your Myrtle Beach resort without taking a spin on one or more of these top rides:

Herschell-Spillman Carousel. Formerly located at the old Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park, this famous 1912 carousel now resides at Pavilion Nostalgia Park at Broadway at the Beach. There’s nothing like a turn on one of the hand-carved prancing horses, running roosters, or thundering elephants to make anyone of any age feel like a kid at heart.

Roller Coasters at Family Kingdom Amusement Park. This old-fashioned family amusement park in the heart of Myrtle Beach offers both classic and modern rides to suit every kind of thrill seeker. Built in 1966 when the park first opened, the wooden Swamp Fox shakes and shudders along a figure-eight track, reaching a height of 75 feet and speeds up to 50 mph. For steel coaster fans, the Twist n’ Shout coaster opened in 2013, with cars specially designed to make riders feel like they are hanging off the edge of their seat. Can’t decide? Try them both!

SkyWheel. No Myrtle Beach vacation is complete without a flight on the famous SkyWheel. Air-conditioned, enclosed cars take soar to great heights above the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. Don’t forget your camera, because you’ll want to remember the spectacular views you’ll experience for miles in every direction. Whether you’re looking for a special addition to a romantic date night or some family fun, the SkyWheel is not to be missed. Get $2 off a SkyWheel flight for up to six people before 7 pm with your VMB card.

The Slingshot. Skyrocket into the stratosphere above Ocean Boulevard on the Grand Strand. The Slingshot sends brave participants 300 feet into the air at a speed of over 100 miles per hour, only to descend back to sea level and catapult back up again. Scared? Bribe a friend to come along for the ride. Two people can ride side-by-side in The Slingshot, making it twice as fun.

From thrilling to nostalgic, these rides will round out any Myrtle Beach experience.
