LuLu’s Is Now Open In Barefoot Landing!

By Megan Burke

Barefoot Landing, a North Myrtle Beach staple, is currently undergoing massive renovations during the 2018 season. The changes will include shuffling and re-organizing current tenants in addition to welcoming several new venue additions, including the highly anticipated Lucy Buffett’s LuLu’s.

Do you like casual beach fare, waterfront views, and funky beach vibes? If so, LuLu’s is the place for you.

This impressive new Barefoot Landing restaurant just opened (June 2018) and is already creating an impression on locals and visitors.

North Myrtle Beach is the restaurant's third location and owner, Lucy Buffett, sister of Jimmy Buffett, is excited to share her concept with the Grand Strand.

The impressive building resides in the new ‘Dockside Village’ village portion of Barefoot and is hard to miss. The first new tenant to open its doors in the new village, LuLu’s features a true beach-vibe with bright colors, like pink, teal, and lime green, and a casual open-air feel. The full venue is situated right along the Intracoastal Waterway and also features a spacious outdoor beach area, a state-of-the-art arcade, a ropes course for kids, a retail area, and more. LuLu’s is more than just a restaurant; it offers a full beach experience for families to stay and play. Open for lunch and dinner daily, the LuLu’s menu offers options to please any palate and also features options for guests with certain dietary restrictions, like food allergies. Get started with a heaping order of blue crab claws or an order of fresh peel and eat shrimp. Seafood not your thing? No worries. Instead, indulge in southern favorites like fried green tomatoes or a ‘mountain’ of fried okra. If you’re looking for a signature starter, try the famous LuLu’s seafood gumbo.

Visitors looking for a lighter item can enjoy one of LuLu’s many salad and sandwich selections, including the ‘Summer Shrimp Salad’, ‘Classic Southern Wedge’, or a traditional southern Po’boy.

Heartier menu items are also available with a full selection of mouthwatering burgers and entrees. Most entrees consist of southern-style seafood offerings, like fried baskets, blackened fish, crab claws, and more. Other delectable entree items include the popular crab melt, shrimp and grits, and island-inspired tacos. If you’re really looking to splurge, pair your meal with an order of LuLu’s loaded fries - for those special occasions when plain fries just aren’t enough. As an homage to her brother, Lucy also included several ‘Cheeseburgers in Paradise’, with her signature ‘Pa-Meena’ cheeseburger stealing the spotlight. This signature item features a handmade, half-pound patty loaded with ‘pa-meena’ cheese, bacon and fried green tomatoes. Other popular burger selections include the ‘Hawaiian’ burger, ‘Crazy Sister’ burger, and ‘Lucy’s Favorite’.

It wouldn’t be a vacation without a little splurge, and the desserts at LuLu’s are well worth the calories. Options include key lime pie, which is homemade in-house and brags being the best along the Grand Strand, the ‘Brownie In Paradise’, and their signature ‘Hot Fun Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding’, which is just as indulgent as it sounds. Or, keep cool with a scoop of ice cream or a refreshing ice cream float.

The entire LuLu’s experience promoted laid-back fun and embracing the beach life. This new addition to Barefoot Landing is definitely worth a trip to North Myrtle Beach!
