Most Underrated Golf Courses in Myrtle Beach

By Vacation Myrtle Beach

Courses like The Dunes Club and Caledonia get a lot of attention in the Myrtle Beach golf scene because of their history and overall value.  However, they’re also two of the most expensive courses you can play along the Grand Strand.  The good news that there are more undervalued courses out there that you can play at a fraction of the price and have just as much fun.

Myrtlewood’s Pine Hills Course

Myrtlewood features two terrific courses but Pine Hills may be the most underappreciated course in Myrtle Beach because it seems to be less favored over the more scenic Palmetto course.  Pine Hills doesn’t have as many waterway holes as Palmetto but it’s a much more challenging track with tight fairways, undulating greens, and numerous hazards.  It forces you to play target golf as you try to guide your ball into tight areas on the course.

Aberdeen Country Club

Aberdeen features a very playable 27-hole layout, which makes it a terrific place to play during the busy months due to the additional nine holes.  Also, the course has seen a major improvement in its upkeeping over the last few years.  The pristine greens and well-kept fairways have improved play and really added to the overall value on this course. With plenty of scenic holes and numerous water hazards, Aberdeen does a great job showcasing what it means to play golf in Myrtle Beach.

Oyster Bay Golf Course

In 1983, Oyster Bay was named “Resort Course of the Year” by Golf Magazine.  However, as newer courses opened up, Oyster Bay lost it’s luster and ranking with many of the elite golf publications.  Still, Oyster Bay features one of the best golfing experiences in Myrtle Beach and is perhaps the most underrated course along the Grand Strand today.  Its layout is extremely playable and the quality of golf is still the same as it was back in 1983.

If you feel like we left a course off that deserves to be on this list, let us know in the comments below.
