Myrtle Beach Named Top Golfing Destination

Myrtle Beach has long been considered the golfing capital of the United States and last week, USA Today bestowed another honor on the city by naming it their “Top Golfing Destination” as voted on by USA Today readers.

Myrtle Beach is home to over 90 golf courses spanning the 60 mile coastline that has become known as the Grand Strand.

Joining Myrtle Beach on the list was nearby Kiawah Island in South Carolina and Pinehurst in North Carolina.  Also making the list was Georgia’s Sea Island, Naples in Florida, and the beautiful city of Maui in Hawaii.

According to the article, the reason for Myrtle Beach winning top honors was relatively simple.

Myrtle Beach is legendary as a golfers' haven and is a favorite destination for guys-only getaways, and also for couples and families who love golf. Fully embracing its love of greens, Myrtle Beach also has a plethora of mini-golf options, where families and couples can have their own heated competitions, even after dark. The city's prime location on the Atlantic Ocean, and nice temperatures much of the year give Myrtle Beach an edge when it comes to attracting northern golfers, especially right after a long winter. Myrtle Beach International has direct flights from about two dozen locations across the eastern USA, and connections from many other airports.

Whether you’re a family of four looking to have some fun or a group of friends reuniting from college to play a round at one of the many championship courses in the area, Myrtle Beach has something for everyone.
