Spirit Airlines Announces Direct Myrtle Beach Flight from Cleveland, Ohio

By Julia Diem

Myrtle Beach International AirportSpirit Airlines, a budget carrier that is popular with Myrtle Beach travelers, recently announced they will be adding a direct flight to and from Cleveland, Ohio.

Adding Cleveland as the 57th city in their route network, Myrtle Beach was chosen as one of its direct flight routes.

Flight tickets can now be purchased for those wishing to fly to Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE), with the flight dates beginning on April 16, 2015 with daily flights available throughout the summer season.

Vacation Myrtle Beach is thrilled that another city has been added to the summer lineup of direct flights available to Myrtle Beach, as it offers an option for business travelers, couples and families traveling to the beach a budget-friendly alternative to driving.

Being an approximately 11 hour drive, without stopping, Cleveland is a city that many wish to visit Myrtle Beach from, but perhaps haven’t done so due to the long drive. Other Ohio flight options are also available through Allegiant from Youngstown, but the additional drive to the airport for those living in the Cleveland area made for a less simple trip to Myrtle Beach.

Spirit Airlines operates on a sort of choose-your-own type of airfare. Customers who book a flight through them first begin with the Bare Fare, which includes just the flight price. Then, customers have the option of adding on what they want, such as a carry-on bag, checked bag, a pre-assigned window seat, etc. for an extra pre-determined fee.

Depending on your flight dates, if you do not add any extras on, you could pay as low as about $124 round-trip from Cleveland to Myrtle Beach! For a couple traveling together to the beach, this could be about the same price as driving, including wear and tear on your car, plus it’s much easier!

Spirit also flies direct to Myrtle Beach from Atlantic City, Boston, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Latrobe/Pittsburg, Baltimore/Washington DC, New York City, Niagara Falls/Buffalo/Toronto, Oakland/San Francisco and Philadelphia. Flight departure cities may vary by season, so be sure to check with Spirit Airlines to see when your city’s flight runs to Myrtle Beach.
