Keep on smiling because it’s still summertime! August has arrived, and it's the last official month of summer! Get ready for a month packed with family fun, entertainment, and excitement in Myrtle Beach! If you will be in the area in the month of August, you’ll have plenty of options to keep you busy during your stay. The month includes free concerts, free nightly entertainment, and plenty of fireworks to round out the summer.

Broadway’s Summer Nights

Where: Broadway at the Beach, 1325 Celebrity Circle, Myrtle Beach
When: Ongoing, 7 pm to 10 pm nightly, weather-permitting, through August 27th

Enjoy nightly summer entertainment throughout the summer season at Broadway at the Beach. There are also several venues with live music on certain nights. Check out these fun activities during your visit:

SummerFest!

FireworksWhere: Barefoot Landing, 4898 Hwy 17 South, North Myrtle Beach
When: Ongoing, 7 pm to 10 pm nightly, weather-permitting, through August 28th

SummerFest! is Barefoot Landing’s premier summer extravaganza that includes nightly entertainment, family-friendly activities, and fireworks shows on select nights. Witness stilt walkers and America's Got Talent semi-finalist Nick Pike, who performs unicycling, juggling, and comedic shows 3 nights a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) to the delight of adults and kids alike! Children can also meet and greet a variety of characters, like princesses and superheroes. While strolling Barefoot Landing, stop by various locations within Barefoot like LuLu's, Pepsi Stage, deck near Purpleologist, Landshark Bar and Grill Patio, and more to enjoy live music. Fireworks are every Monday night at 10 pm.

Live Music at The Hangout!

When: Month of August, 6 pm - 10 pm
Where: The Hangout, 1181 Celebrity Circle, Myrtle Beach

The Hangout is a family-friendly gathering place in Myrtle Beach for great food and family fun at Broadway at the Beach. The restaurant features full-service dining, and a courtyard with a ton-of-fun sand pile, foam pit, games, retail shopping, stages for live music and more.

Pirates & Princesses Breakfast Adventure

When: June 6 through September 3
Where: The Hangout, 1181 Celebrity Circle, Myrtle Beach 

Join The Hangout’s Pirates and Princesses Breakfast Adventure this August. Fill your belly, bob the treasure, and join the royal court with pirates and princesses. There are two free daily shows at 9:15 am and 10:15 am. The all-you-can-eat breakfast available for purchase includes Biscuits & Gravy, Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, & Breakfast Potatoes. For an additional charge, daily specials for French toast, pancakes, fruit plates, and Bloody Marys and Mimosas for the adults are available! 

 

Craftsmen’s Summer Classic Art & Craft Festival  

When: August 4th and 5th from 10 am - 6pm | August 6th from 11 am - 5 pm
Where: Myrtle Beach Convention Center, 2101 North Oak Street
Price: Adults (age 13+) $8 each | Children (age 6-12) $1 each

The Grand Strand’s favorite summer event - it has been voted consistently a Top 100 Best Show In The Nation! Hundreds of artists and craftsmen from across the nation bring thousands of unique choices to Myrtle Beach. Find aisles full of pottery, jewelry, home decor, woodworking, toys, clothing, furniture, photography, specialty foods, and much more! There are treasures galore and something for everyone! Once you pay for entry you can enjoy additional entry with your FREE Return Pass which can be obtained at the Show Office before leaving the show.

 

Summer Cookie Workshop

When: Saturday, August 12th from 2 pm - 4 pm
Where: Ripley's Aquarium of Myrtle Beach, 1110 Celebrity Cir, Myrtle Beach Cost: Adults $45 + tax | Children $25 + tax

Fresh out of the oven! Enjoy a creative cookie decorating class at Ripley's Aquarium with a skilled instructor.  With the cost of the class, it includes an aquarium admission, a cookie box with 3 sugar cookies, pre-filled disposable piping bags, and a light snack.  

 

Free Myrtle Beach Fireworks

FireworksWhere: Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing, and Myrtle Beach Pelicans
When: Select nights throughout the month

Barefoot Landing hosts a FREE weekly fireworks extravaganza every Monday night at 10 pm in August. Broadway at the Beach will also host fireworks every Tuesday night this summer, with additional fireworks shows on Friday, August 4 and Friday, August 11. These fireworks shows start at 10 pm at both locations.

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans will also host post-game fireworks every Friday night when they have a home game!

Movies at McLean

Enjoy a FREE movie under the stars at McLean Park in North Myrtle Beach! Movies will be held on the second Friday of each month, May through October. The 2023 August movie is scheduled to be Lilo and Stitch on August 11th (subject to change depending upon availability).  Bring your beach chair or blankets for a great family night or date night. The North Myrtle Beach Lions Club will be selling popcorn, refreshments, and drinks. The movies begin at 7 pm at McLean Par, located at 93 Oak Drive, North Myrtle Beach. 

 

Music on Main Concert Series

The Music on Main concert series is a favorite among visitors and locals. Located along Main Street in North Myrtle Beach, this summer-long live music experience brings some of the best area musical talents to the sunny shores of North Myrtle Beach.

Sounds of Summer 

When: June - September
Where: North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex, 150 Citizens Circle, Little River

Enjoy an evening listening to live music at the amphitheater at The North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex. Each concert will feature a different family-friendly band. Paul Grimshaw (Tribute to Van Morrison and James Taylor) is scheduled for the August show on Friday, August 18th from 7 pm - 9 pm. Bring a beach chair or blanket, but coolers, outside food, and beverages are not allowed. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. 

 

The Stick by Clay Rice Traveling Exhibition 

When: June 6 through September 3
Where: Franklin G. Burroughs - Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum, 3100 South Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach

The Stick traveling exhibition was developed by nationally-known silhouette artist Clay Rice and The South Carolina State Museum. This family-friendly exhibition is based on the artist's children's book, which invites all ages to immerse themselves in the elegant black-and-white world of Rice's silhouettes accentuated by a fun and colorful gallery experience filled with kids' costumes, photo-ops, and a relaxing reading nook. Entry to the art museum is free.

 

The Hammock Shops Family Day 

When: Sunday, August 6th and Sunday, August 20th from 12 pm - 4 pm
Where: Hammock Shops Village, 10880 Ocean Hwy, Pawleys Island

Come out and attend this fun-filled Family Day series! This Hammock Shops Village features 21 stores and 2 restaurants. Shop for anything and everything from clothes, home decor, to unique gifts. They are hosting a farmer’s market with an array of fresh produce, baked goods, and more. In addition to the farmer’s market, there will be family entertainment of live music, food trucks, bouncy castles, balloon artists, face painters, and a playground. 

 

Yoga in the Yard

When: Recurring weekly on Sundays in August
Where: Crooked Hammock Brewery, 4924 Highway 17 South, North Myrtle Beach
Price: $15 per person

Take some self-care time this summer to relax, re-center, and cleanse yourself with a cold craft beer (first one’s on them, 21+). Their Yoga in the Yard series with Sea Yoga guides you through a relaxing physical & mental workout, where the style of yoga varies every week. All levels are welcome, don’t forget your yoga mat!

 

Myrtle Beach Pelicans Baseball

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans baseball season is in full swing for the 2023 season, and you won’t want to miss a single pitch. July home games include bouts against Fayetteville and Kannapolis. Tickets start at just $14 per person for the Bowtie Deck up to only $20 per person for Low Tide Seating, right by the action. The best part is there’s not a bad seat in the house! The Pelicans also feature several promotions throughout the month including:

  • Sunday, August 13 → Get to the game early for “Touch a Truck”! Kids and adults alike will be able to check out cars, trucks, machines and more, right outside the gate entrance. 
  • Sundays → Pregame catch on the field, Kids 12 & under will also be able to run the bases after each Sunday fireworks show through August 13.
  • Tuesdays → $2 Tacos and $3 Tallboys (until 8 pm)
  • Wednesdays → Half Price Hebrew National hot dogs (all game long)
  • Thursdays → $2 Bud cans and $3 glasses of Duplin winery wine (until 8 pm)
  • Family Fridays + Fireworks →  $25 family meal deal (4 hot dogs, 4 soft drinks, and a bucket of popcorn) and kid-friendly themes. Post-game fireworks, and kids 12 & under can run the bases after the fireworks show and receive a free Fun Zone wristband for SkyZone Trampoline Park with the donation of an item from the approved Backpack Buddies list. All items will help provide food for the hungry children of Horry County.
  • Saturdays → $2 Michelob Ultra 12 oz. cans, $3 glasses of Duplin Winery Wine, and $25 mega drinks 48 oz.  (until 7 p.m.)
