Three Best Holes at Pine Lakes

Known as “The Granddaddy,” Pine Lakes is the oldest golf course still in operation in Myrtle Beach.  Originally built back in 1927, the course has undergone a 15 million dollar renovation and has returned to being one of the best courses in Myrtle Beach.

Pine Lakes is also home to the Myrtle Beach Golf Hall of Fame, located just behind the clubhouse.

Much like any beach course, Pine Lakes offers several signature quality holes that make every round a memorable one.  Below, we’ve picked out three of our favorites!

5th Hole - 529-yard Par 5

Playing at 529 yards from the tips, this par 5 is a consistent dogleg left that never offers players a proper angle to slice some of the yardage off of this hole.  With water nestling the fairway to the left, players are forced to play towards the middle-right of the fairway.  The green is protected by several large bunkers with long rough behind the green.  This hole may not be considered a signature hole but it’s by far one of the toughest combinations of shots you’ll play all day at Pine Lakes.

11th Hole – 155-yard Par 3

Beautifully designed with a man-made pond swallowing any shots that fall short of the green, this par 3 isn’t as easy as it looks.  The green slopes back to front, making it better to go long on this hole than short.  A lack of bunkers helps but this hole offers more of a mental challenge than physical.  Hit a good tee shot and par is very much within reach.

14th Hole – 322-yard Par 4

The reason the 14th hole makes this list is because of how many different ways there are to play this hole.  For the long hitters, there’s a chance you can take it from the back tees or the white tees and get it over the pond and on the green.  However, most players can’t carry 300 yards on their drive so taking an iron off the tee eliminates any horizontal threats and will reward players with an easy lob or gap wedge into the green.  The 14th hole is an easy chance at a birdie before a tough final four finishing holes.
