Christmas Tree Lightings and Parades: What better way to ring in the season than by attending a classic Christmas tree lighting (often filled with carols and hot chocolate) or a parade (where you are more than likely able to catch a glimpse of Mr. Clause himself)? Dickens Christmas Show & Festivals: A yearly tradition, the Dickens Christmas Show & Festivals takes place at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center from Nov. 14 through 17. The Convention Center will be filled with a variety of booths and vendors. In the Victorian Holiday Marketplace, you will be able to get a start on your Christmas shopping, come up with ideas, enjoy entertainment and meet Santa. While you are there, be sure to take a stroll through the section where trees and wreaths will be on display and auctioned off to raise money for non-profit organizations. Admission to the show is $8.50 for adults, $4 for children ages 2 to 12 and free for kids under 2. If you plan to attend more than one day you will want to purchase the multi-day pass for $13. In addition, on Nov. 15 you can attend the Dickens Luncheon Tea or the Dickens High Tea and on Saturday you can attend the Dickens Luncheon Tea or the Victorian Teas Luncheon, all of which take place at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church for an additional fee. The Dickens Christmas Show & Festivals is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit!

Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland: Beginning in on Nov. 8, Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland will take over at the Pelican’s Ticketreturn.com Field. No longer a plain-old parking lot, the pavement and grass around the stadium light up to the sounds of Christmas music that play over your radio as you slowly drive through the numerous light displays. From arches to twinkling stars to colorful tree-shapes, these lights magnificently pulse and flash to the sounds of the music. Following your ride through the course, you can venture into Santa’s Village inside the stadium and enjoy hot chocolate, meet Santa and have fun with your kids. Open every single day (even Thanksgiving and Christmas) until Jan. 4, this show is perfect for the entire family. The cost to get in is charged per vehicle and the show begins at dusk. Don’t miss out on this unique Myrtle Beach Christmas event!

Night of a Thousand Candles: A beautiful event held just south of Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet is the annual Night of a Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens. With multiple dates that your family can choose from, this is an event that is not to be missed. Taking place on Dec. 4 – 6, 11 – 13, and 18 – 20 from 3 to 10 p.m., Night of a Thousand Candles will get anyone in the holiday spirit. More than 5,500 candles (painstakingly lit one by one) and various twinkling lights fill the gardens during this special time. They will have hot apple cider available as the gardens are illuminated by the sites of the lights and sounds of music that fills the air. Be sure to get your tickets before the end of November to get a discounted rate for this holiday event.

Festival of Trees: Visit Ripley’s Aquarium from through the end of the year to see their amazing Festival of Trees! This Broadway at the Beach attraction features a tree for each state, spread throughout the aquarium. Check out the fish, sting rays and sharks while browsing the beautifully decorated trees. Each state’s tree is covered in ornaments representing that state. Find your tree and learn about other states as well as you enjoy a day at the aquarium!
