Vacation Hack: How to Save on a Myrtle Beach Vacation

By Megan Burke

Planning a Myrtle Beach vacation for your family can become a stressful endeavor, especially when it comes to fitting things into the budget. Leave a little extra room in the wallet by saving big on your Myrtle Beach hotel room. What are some quick and easy ways to save? Enjoy our latest Vacation Hack rundown and use our tips to book your next Myrtle Beach vacation:

Book Early

Booking early is the #1 tip for saving on your Myrtle Beach hotel and we cannot stress this enough. Did you just get back from your latest beach getaway? Perfect, go ahead and book for next year. Seriously! The earlier you book, the better the rates will be. Not to mention that early reservations are more likely than last minute bookings to have special requests honored, like specific floor or room requests. People often ask “how soon should we book?” Well, the sooner the better! But, Christmas is a good general benchmark to go by. Next year's rates are usually up in the fall, so guests are able to book as early as the rates are posted. Besides, what could be a better Christmas present than announcing a summer getaway in Myrtle Beach!

Take Advantage of Specials

Even if you miss the early booking train, you can still jump on board with savings by taking advantage of tempting Myrtle Beach hotel deals. Popular resort specials include “free night” promotions that allow guests to extend their vacation for a bit longer or package deals that include tickets to popular local attractions. The deals will vary greatly from resort to resort, so you might have to shop around a bit to find the best bet for your family, but we promise the added effort will be worth it. You are looking to book a Myrtle Beach vacation anyway, why not save a few bucks if you can?

Consider Room Size

Though this option might not seem very appealing at first glance, take a few more moments to consider how long you will actually be in the hotel room during your beach vacation. Though your ideal resort room will have enough room for everyone, you can save big by downsizing and many rooms are equipped to handle this. Search for an efficiency condo or a room that has a pull out couch or Murphy bed which can easily be used when needed and then hidden when guests are in the room and need the extra space. Downsizing your condo could easily save you $20-$30 per night, which quickly adds up to extra cash in the wallet. Just be sure to check the max occupancy for each room type and pick the smallest size that works for your group.

Consider Room / Resort Location

Another important hotel tip to take into consideration is the location of the hotel itself and the location of the room within the hotel. Skip the oceanfront option for an ocean view room or an interior room to save big. Or, if an oceanfront condo in Myrtle Beach is a must, opt for a resort on the south end of town rather than the North Myrtle Beach area; resorts on the south end tend to be slightly more budget friendly while still offering great on-site amenities and ocean views.

Stay During the Week

It’s no secret that many guests enjoy visiting the beach during the weekends. The law of supply and demand dictates that rates for weekend rentals will be higher than mid-week rooms. Save big by enjoying a mid-week vacation! There are still plenty of things to do throughout the week in Myrtle Beach and the sun and sand aren’t going anywhere. Book a Monday – Thursday room versus a Thursday – Sunday stay and save big!
