Will It Rain On My Myrtle Beach Vacation? | Your Beach Questions Answered!

By DDehaan

Will it rain on my Myrtle Beach vacation?

Vacation Myrtle Beach is here to help you navigate the somewhat misleading local weather forecasts!

If you are like most people you have probably been checking the weather forecast before your vacation. Whether you are checking on a local weather app or watching the Weather Channel, you might be shocked to see a chance of rain every single day with what appears to be no sun in sight.

It’s certainly understandable that this weather forecast can look like it will ruin ALL of your plans.

You may even be frantically trying to get together a list of indoor activities or may even be planning to cancel your trip altogether.

Before you do that, read our top reasons why the Myrtle Beach weather forecast is essentially wrong.

1. Chance of rain, every day!?

It’s almost guaranteed that every time you open your weather app, especially during the summer, that you will see a chance of rain in Myrtle Beach for every...single...day. We are no meteorologists but from living here in Myrtle Beach, we can give you one piece of advice.

Pay attention to the percent chance for that day. Generally most days will show a 20 or 30% chance of rain. This is a completely normal forecast for Myrtle Beach. Remember, 20 or 30% only means that there is less than a third chance that it will even rain ONCE during the day. If it does rain, it’s typically for only a few minutes and the rest of the day is perfectly fine for lounging on the beach.

2. Is this forecast accurate?

If you are checking the forecast more than a few days prior to your vacation, remember that forecasts can and will change. Take any long-term forecasts you see with a grain of salt. Bonus tip, download a local Myrtle Beach weather app such as WPDE WX. Local apps tend to be more accurate than national apps as they have data analyzed and uploaded by real people, not just a computer.

>>>Android: Download WPDE WX Weather App

>>>Apple: Download WPDE WX Weather App

Or search WPDE WX in your phone's app store.

3. It’s actually sunny here...a lot.

Myrtle Beach averages 215 sunny days a year. Now that’s something to look forward to!

We hope that this puts your mind at ease for your upcoming Myrtle Beach vacation. Pack your sunglasses and sunscreen and get ready for a fun beach vacation.
