1st Annual F.A.M.E. (Food, Arts, Music & Entertainment) Festival

By Vacation Myrtle Beach

The 1st Annual F.A.M.E. (Food, Arts, Music & Entertainment) Festival will be held on Saturday, April 24th 2010 from 10:00am until 10:00pm on historic Broadway Street between 4th and 6th Avenues North in downtown Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Admission the the festival is free of charge and attendees will have the opportunity to purchase all types of art, from paintings and photographs to pottery, sculpture, jewelry and more. All pieces will be originals from local artists who will be there to discuss their work with you.

F.A.M.E. Art Co-Chairs, nationally known painter Bill Strydesky and local web dsigner/ graphic artist Elken Grate always say, "People like to hang-out with artists and what a great (or "Grate") opportunity to do it!"

Throughout the event, the Main Stage at 5th Avenue North and Broadway will be offering up the finest in local and nationally recognized talent, including musicians, vocalists, dancers and more for your entertainment pleasure. F.A.M.E. Festival Music/Stage Co-Chairs, local physician and musician, Dr. Joe Moyer and entertainment attorney and musician, Craig Anderson Snook, report that, "we'll have an awesome line-up, including Gabbie Rae, My buddy Todd and Area 51, and we'll have some fun with our F.A.M.E. Idol Showcase." The festival will be broadcast live over the Internet on Q-Rock rado and you might even find yourself sitting down with Bob for an interview - just think... you could be "F.A.M.E.ous!"

The idea for this street fest came from our Myrtle Beach F.A.M.E. Food Co-Chair, "TBone" Terry Jones, a popular local food caterer, who recognized the opportunity to blend many forms of art together with food, drink and family fun on a beautiful spring day in Downtown Myrtle Beach. "We'll be featuring local restauranteurs with food from the Low Country to the Mediterranean and places in between with Gordon Biersch Brewery serving beer and wine in the garden" said Mike Saffa of Habibi's Cafe and Market and F.A.M.E. Food Co-Chair.

F.A.M.E. Children's Area Chair, Don Hall, the Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of the Grand Strand, has planned games, art, fire truck demonstrations, face painting, balloon fun and much more. Hall says, "This festival is a family-friendly event with fun for both little kids and big kids alike."

You'll see break-dancers, shag dancers and tap dancers on the stage and dance floor. You'll see mimes, stilt-walkers, strolling musicians and... you might even see "Elvis." You'll see painters painting and hear "spoken word" poetry, at different venues throughout the festival.

Karen Holck, F.A.M.E. Festival Chair and Broadway Cafe & Gourmet proprietor, expressed appreciation on behalf of the festival's organizers. "The F.A.M.E. Festival Committee is so fortunate to have the support of area business owners, volunteers, neighbors, sponsors, and the Horry County Arts and Cultural Council, the Myrlte beach Area Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Redevelopment Corporation, the Community Appearance Board, City Staff and the Mayor and City Council of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We welcome the opportunity to showcase our businessdistrict on the historic Broadway Street in Downtown Myrtle Beach for the benefit of the arts and the community, so come on down and see what we have to offer!"

Proceeds from the F.A.M.E. Festival will be donated back into the Myrtle Beach community and we welcome all sponsors and individuals who would like to contribute to join us in our endeavor by contacting Karen Holck or any of the festival organizers for details.
