La Dolci Mania: Where Sicily Meets Myrtle Beach

By Alexx Altman

Nothing starts off a morning of vacation like a perfect cup of coffee and a delicious Zeppole, a deep-fried dough ball filled with cream and topped with powder sugar. Located at 2060 Oakheart Rd in Myrtle Beach, is a brand new artisanal Italian bakery and café named La Dolci Mania. Inspired by the homemade meals and pastries his mother made, Salvo Giudice shares his love of baking with Myrtle Beach.

Giudice chose Myrtle Beach for his bakery’s location because of the people, environment, and the beautiful similarities it shares with Sicily. La Dolci Mania brings a little slice of Sicilian culture to the states. You won’t find a factory-made pastry, but you will find handcrafted foods and recipes that have been passed down to the next generation.

After you enjoy a delicious breakfast, you can choose to have a scrumptious lunch at La Dolci Mania.

Some of their Italian specialty sandwiches include:

  • The Big Italy topped with prosciutto, Italian ham, salami, and mozzarella.
  • The Godfather filled with sweet sopressata, sweet capocollo, mortadella, and provolone.
  • Vegetarian sandwich with roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, olive oil, and seasonings.

If you are craving a healthier meal they have a Caprese salad, romaine salad, and spinach salad. For non-coffee drinkers try a fresh smoothie, orange juice, iced tea or hot tea, and chai lattes. Fresh crunchy Bàtard bread is also available to make your sandwiches almost as good as the real thing. Make sure you get a taste of Sicily with their Sicilian traditional pizza

Come and try a little piece of Italy when you visit Myrtle Beach for your next vacation. Stay at the oceanfront Beach Colony Resort, just a 15-minute drive away, and make the new La Dolci Mania part of your next escape.
