The Best Appetizers in Myrtle Beach

By Samantha Norton

Myrtle Beach is a palette pleasing smorgasbord for any type of food that could possibly interest you.  From authentic Italian and Mexican food, to the ethnic and spicy flavors of Thai and Indian cuisine Myrtle Beach has your taste buds covered. One of the best ways to sample a little of each is to just stop in for an appetizer! Here is a list of some of the best appetizers at our favorite restaurants in Myrtle Beach in no certain order.

1. Cedar Island Crab Dip: Served off the starters menu at Pier House Restaurant, located right on Second Avenue Pier, the Cedar Island Crab Dip is mouthwateringly good! Eating oceanfront affords you a great view while you dine. Dip your house made tortilla chips into the melty goodness of this homemade cream crab, white and cheddar cheese dip, served up warm. This dip will have you raving!

2. Egg Roll Sampler: King Street Grill, located in Market Common, isn’t the typical venue you would imagine finding knock-out egg rolls, but don’t let the sports bar good looks fool you, and dive into the unique and sumptuous Egg Roll Sampler. Some say everything is better fried and maybe they are right! This sampler features a Philly Cheese Steak Egg Roll, Loaded Potato Egg Roll, Macaroni and Cheese Egg Roll and a Southwest Egg Roll. Of the four, the Loaded Potato or the Macaroni and Cheese Egg Roll have to be our favorites.

3. Italian Nachos: We can’t say enough about this Italian twist on America’s favorite Mexican dish brought to you be Travinia Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar, located in Market Common. The Italian Nachos are a fiesta in your mouth with lightly fried chips smothered in sausage, mozzarella, black olives, banana peppers, tomatoes and a tangy asiago cream sauce. To make this dish even more delectable, everyday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. during happy hour treat yourself for only $5.

4. Thai Fries: Do you like fries, but are looking for a change up? Try Thai Cuisine’s ‘Thai’ Fries. Boniato is tossed with coconut and Thai batter and deep fried to a golden brown. This crispy, salty and slightly sweet concoction is the perfect start to any meal. Thai Cuisine is a short drive and a hidden gem on 12th avenue north right in Myrtle Beach. Do yourself a favor and head there on your next vacation.

5. Fried Pickles: These crunchy and sour must have discs are served at almost every other restaurant on the Grand Strand, but some are better than others. Our favorite deep fried pickle treatery is Wicked Tuna. Although this restaurant is located somewhat south in Murrell’s Inlet on the Marshwalk, it is worth the drive. Thinly sliced dill pickles are lightly battered and served with a slightly spicy chipotle ranch.

These are just some of the delicious samplings Myrtle Beach has to offer. Make sure to always carry your VMB card and check out all the deals you can get when you use it!
