Tourist attractions are around every corner in Myrtle Beach, giving you plenty of choices for fun and entertainment just steps away from your Myrtle Beach hotel. But, maybe you’d prefer to venture a bit off the beaten path. Where do the locals go to have fun? Check out this guide to “local” Myrtle Beach and discover activities that aren’t your typical tourist fare.

Carolina ImprovCarolina Improv. This local improv comedy troup serves up laughs with sketch and improvisational comedy on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday nights. Since 2008, Carolina Improv has delighted audiences and offered authentic after-dinner entertainment for those looking for something a little different. Buy one ticket at full price and get the second for half-off with your VMB Card.

Myrtle Beach Shrine Club. The Myrtle Beach Shrine Club, voted one of the best Shrine Clubs in America, was recently remodeled, including the huge Bingo room. Bring your favorite beverage to the Bingo games on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Floor games start at 6:30 p.m., and the main session kicks off at 8:30. Myrtle Beach State Park Pier. The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is one of the most famous attractions in the area. But, if you want to escape the crowds and enjoy some natural beauty, take a ride to Myrtle Beach State Park to stroll its scenic pier, which is free with $5 park admission. Bring your fishing pole or rent one at the onsite store to try your hand at landing the catch of the day.

Cruises. Even area locals like to explore a different part of Myrtle Beach and with riverboat cruises they can do just that. The Barefoot Princess Riverboat cruises take locals (and visitors) on a scenic trip down the Intracoastal Waterway. With a VMB Myrtle Beach discounts card, tour goers can bring a friend with them for free on any sightseeing cruise. But locals also have another option for a cruise if they want- the SunCruz Casino. While sightseeing isn’t the main point of this casino cruise, the journey out into the Atlantic Ocean is scenic and beautiful. And once there, guests can enjoy hours of gaming fun as well as the views and delicious food. With a VMB card, visitors to the area can get a $60 cruise package for only $35.

Next time you’re vacationing in Myrtle Beach, consider giving these local favorites a whirl.
