“Myrtle Beach is a very popular destination every summer, and we look forward to offering additional low-cost travel options this year,” said Andrew Levy, Allegiant Travel Company President. “Expanding our service in Myrtle Beach will allow us to give more of our markets access to the Grand Strand and offer travelers even more affordable vacation options.”

"Today's announcement by Allegiant Air shows the airlines confidence and strength of the Myrtle Beach market," said Pat Apone, director of airports for Horry County Department of Airports.  "The Department of Airports enjoys its partnership with Allegiant Air and is excited to see the airline doubling the number of markets it serves at Myrtle Beach International Airport."

"Ensuring affordable transportation is paramount to attracting new visitors to the Myrtle Beach area and providing easy and quick access to our beach destination," said Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. "We're very pleased to see Allegiant Air expand non-stop flights to and from the Myrtle Beach area, while continuing to provide our visitors and residents with low-fare options."

"Allegiant's decision to add nonstop service from Cincinnati, Syracuse, Lexington and Columbus is great news for Myrtle Beach and golfers in those markets," said Bill Golden, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday's president. "All four are strong feeder markets, and Allegiant is one of America's major leisure travel airlines, making it an ideal partner for Myrtle Beach. Nonstop air service is vital to the growth of the Grand Strand golf market and Allegiant is an airline partner we can grow with."

The new routes will expand on the four seasonal routes Allegiant currently serves from Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR): Allentown/Lehigh Valley, Pa. (ABE), Fort Wayne, In. (FWA), Huntington (Tri-State), WV (HTS), and Youngstown, Ohio (YNG).   The carrier’s seasonal Myrtle Beach service operates each year from May through mid-August.

Allegiant celebrated its 15 year anniversary on Friday, Feb. 28. Allegiant’s innovative business model has allowed it to grow from one plane and one route 15 years ago, to offering access to low-cost, nonstop travel in 100 communities nationwide, more than any other domestic low-cost carrier. Allegiant also offers discounts on vacation packages, including hotels, rental cars and attraction tickets, through its website Allegiant.com.
