Best Crazy Things to do on Vacation

By Vacation Myrtle Beach

Every now and then a person gets the urge to do something a little crazy, and what better place to do this than on vacation in Myrtle Beach. Of course, what’s crazy to one person may be completely normal to the next, so the activities listed here cover a range of crazy pursuits.

A common "crazy" thing to do is the Myrtle Beach Zipline. You’ll find this on the old Myrtle Beach Pavilion site a couple of blocks from the SkyWheel. Kids under the age of 18 are welcome as long as they have a signed waiver from their parents or authorized guardian. There are restrictions on weight – you must be between 40 and 275 lbs. This thrilling ride is 600 feet from tower to tower reaching speeds of 40 mph, and there’s a 60 foot freefall at the end of the run.

Or, have you ever tried riding – or rather gliding as they call it, on a Segway? That’s one of those two-wheeled machines that you ride standing up while trying not to fall off. Actually it’s more difficult to fall off than you imagine, since they have a low center of gravity, and all of the balancing is carried out by a computer in the base of the machine anyway. This is a unique new form of transport offer up by Myrtle Beach Segway that just has to be tried out – only thing is, you have to be at least 18 years of age.

Now you have to be crazy to get a tattoo, right? Because of zoning restrictions, Hero Tattoos is necessarily located in Conway, about 12 miles inland from the beach. Hero Tattoos will give you a mammoth 20% discount on production of your VMB Card. Tattoos were first introduced into the United States by a German immigrant in 1846, but are known to have been used in ancient times.

Another crazy thing to do is the Sling Shot Thrill Ride. Located at the corner of 12th Ave. N. and Ocean Blvd., this ride can best be described as a reverse Bungee Jump. Two people at a time are strapped into a capsule lying on their backs. The capsule is held on the ground by an electro-magnetic trigger mechanism, while the capsule is attached to the top of a tower by elastic bungee ropes under strain. When released the capsule and all it contains are propelled vertically upwards at between 3g and 5g. This is a similar amount of g to that experienced by a naval aviator during a catapult launch. This thrilling ride accelerates you to speeds in excess of 100 mph and 300 feet into the air.

All of these “crazy” activities are partners on Vacation Myrtle Beach’s discounts card so make sure to bring it along with you if you feel the need to go a bit crazy on your vacation.
