Myrtle Beach Eats: Top Spots for Locals

By Megan Burke

It’s no secret that Myrtle Beach is a dining Mecca; with over 200 unique places to eat along the Grand Strand, picking just a few to try during your vacation can be tough! Well, Vacation Myrtle Beach is here to help. Check out our roundup of the “top spots for locals” and see where the beach veterans like to dine:

Little Pigs BBQ – This hole-in-the-wall BBQ shack might not look like much, but what it lacks in décor it more than makes up for in flavor. And, with two Myrtle Beach locations, you really don’t have a reason not to try this hometown favorite! Fall-off-the-bone tender meats that are slow smoked in house and smothered in succulent sauces are what one can anticipate at Little Pigs. Try grilled chicken, pulled pork, or a half or whole rack of baby back ribs then pair that with a few of Little Pig’s home-style sides and you’re in business! Sides include traditional BBQ favorites, like mac and cheese, potato salad, hush puppies, and baked beans, in addition to unexpected choices like deep fried ear of corn and sweet potato crunch. Your plate will be completely clean before you leave this place! Call (843) 808-0238 for the Dick Pond Road location or (843) 692-9774 for the Frontage Road location.

Burky’s Grill – Burky’s Grill has been a local favorite for over 20 years and shows no sign of slowing down. This classic diner-style restaurant serves up classic American fare like flat-top burgers, hotdogs, and their famous Cincinnati style chili – all at a very agreeable price. Where else in Myrtle Beach can you get a fresh, handmade burger with a side of fries for only $5?! Popular Burky’s fare includes their juicy fast-food style burgers, complete with any toppings you like, the “3-Way Spaghetti” topped with chili and cheese, and their generous stuffed potatoes. Of course, if wouldn’t be a trip to Burky’s without a scoop (or two) of ice cream! Burky’s proudly serves Ashby’s Sterling Ice Cream and offers a wide variety of sundaes, floats, shakes, or scoops. Burky’s is the perfect place to refuel after a busy day at the beach! Call (843) 626-2888 for more information.

Farlo’s Burrito Bar – This recent addition to the downtown Myrtle Beach area is quickly becoming a favorite among visitors and locals alike! Farlo’s Burrito Bar proudly boasts not owning a single freezer, ensuring only the most fresh ingredients that are prepared while you watch. Ordering is simple: first, choose a vessel (burrito, burrito bowl, quesadilla, or tacos); then, choose your meat (pollo, barbacoa, carne asada, carnitas, vegetarian) and toppings. That’s it! The customizable menu at Farlo’s makes this place great for crowds or picky eaters. Guests can also take advantage of the full bar and live entertainment on weekends, not to mention their generous late night hours. Call (843) 712-2307 for more information.

Croissant’s Bistro & BakeryCroissant’s Bistro & Bakery is known for their French inspired cuisine with a distinctive lowcountry flare which sets them apart from any other restaurant along the Grand Strand. Stop in for Croissants Bistro Myrtle Beachbreakfast during the week or a decadent brunch on weekends which offers an array of omelettes, benedicts, breakfast sandwiches, and more. The lunch menu offers a variety of creative fresh salads, sandwiches, and wraps while the dinner menu provides more hearty options like shrimp and grits, peach BBQ glazed pork tenderloin, and pan seared grouper – to name a few. Croissant’s also offers a fresh bakery stocked with fresh cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and more! Call (843) 448-2253 for more information. *VMB Offer – one bomber shrimp appetizer with the purchase of 2 entrees (one per table)

Dagwood’s Deli – Dagwood’s Deli has been serving up locals since 1988 and has been an area staple ever since. This local deli offers fresh sandwiches piled high with any toppings you can imagine. Try one of their signature items, like the “Dagwood’s Dipper”, a sub loaded with sliced turkey, melted swiss, and bacon bits and served warm with a side of Dagwood’s signature dill dipping sauce. Or, create your own signature concoction! Dagwood’s also offers cheesesteaks, salads, burgers, baskets, reubens, and tempting appetizers to help get you started. If you are in town during the week, stop by on a Wednesday for “free cookie day” (another local secret). Call (843) 448-0100 for more information.
