What’s Nearby South Wind on the Ocean

By Vacation Myrtle Beach

South Wind on the Ocean is located in the fashionable north-end region of Myrtle Beach, and many first-time visitors to this Vacation Myrtle Beach resort will want to know what sort of activities and attractions there are close by.

When you check in at the resort the staff at the front desk will give you a Vacation Myrtle Beach discounts card and an up-to-date list of the many partners that honor it. The card will entitle you to special discounts at restaurants, shops, cultural attractions and activities that are located along the 60-mile stretch of beach. Here are a few of these that you can sample:

Golfers staying at South Wind will rejoice to find that two of the area’s best courses are just about as close as can be to the resort.

The very first golf course ever built in Myrtle Beach, Pine Lakes Country Club (also known as “The Granddaddy”) is about a stone’s throw away from South Wind’s front door. This course opened in 1927 and has recently been updated for a more modern golf game. But those renovations have not taken away the course’s classic feel.

Myrtlewood Golf Club is also practically walking distance from the resort, located just across highway 17. Myrtlewood is something of a “hidden” course located just off of 48th Avenue North Extended but with the Intracoastal Waterway as the backdrop for the Palmetto Course as well as the Pine Hills course, this course is a must-play for those staying at South Wind.
Use the VMB Golf package deals page to get some of the best rates on playing these courses.

If you’re vacationing with a golfer then you can both probably enjoy a game of mini golf at the nearby Jungle Safari Mini Golf Course. Have fun playing past life-sized elephants, giraffs and more! And take along your VMB card to get $1 off per person per round or $3 off all day play.

Golf may not be everybody’s cup of tea. But good food has universal appeal! And South Wind is right near several delicious restaurants that are also VMB partners! And that means good food at a great price.

Liberty Tap Room is located just a bit north from the resort and offers up hand-crafted beers as well as juicy burgers, steaks, pita pizzas and more. Their happy hour menu also offers up a wide array of tasty samplings and drink specials.

If you’re looking for something a bit more upscale, Croissants Bakery and Bistro offers up fresh, local meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as the meal made for vacationers— brunch! You can enjoy a girt and egg soufflé for breakfast, or a savory or sweet crepe for brunch. Their dinner menu is also filled with delicious options like apricot glazed crispy flounder or a classic shrimp and grits with fried green tomatoes. And make sure you leave room for dessert as the bakery section of this restaurant is known across the area for its delicious cakes, tortes and more.

But if you’ve got a hearty appetite and maybe a larger group with you then you may want to check out Rioz Brazillian Steakhouse, located a bit further south of South Wind. Rioz is a steakhouse where wood charcoal cooked meats are offered and sliced up tableside until diners say when! There is also grilled pineapple and an outstanding hot and cold salad bar with vegetables, sushi, bread and more. You will NOT leave Rioz hungry. And with your VMB Myrtle Beach discounts card you can finish off your meal with one of their delectable desserts for free for your table of four.

And if you’re near Rioz then you’re also close to Legends in Concert, Planet Hollywood and all of the offerings of Broadway at the Beach. There are dozens of different things to do in this part of town alone.

There’s plenty for everyone staying at South Wind on the Ocean to do. Whatever type of attraction you are looking for you are bound to find it not far from your home away from home.
