Hello May! We welcome May 2026 with some marvelous things to do in Myrtle Beach. Some big events this month include Cinco de Mayo celebrations, 5K runs, live music events, Pelicans baseball, and a world-famous seafood festival! As summer weather approaches, these festivals and events are a great way to get outdoors and enjoy the warm Myrtle Beach weather.
71st Annual Sun Fun Festival
- When: Friday, May 1st to Sunday, May 3rd
- Where: Plyler Park, 1100 N Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach
Come out to Myrtle Beach’s longest running event at the Annual Sun Fun Festival! Entertainment (at various times during the festival) includes free games in Plyler Park, live music, aerial display, face painting, photo ops, free kids crafts, and more. View the full Sun Fun schedule here.
Groovin’ On The Green Concert
- When: Friday, May 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Where: Downtown Conway, Town Green at 200 Laurel Street
Conway Downtown Alive will host Groovin’ on the Green, an outdoor Friday night concert series, on May 1 with City Lights, May 8 with Trae Pierce & The T-Stones, May 15 with Chocolate Chip & Company Band, May 22 with Whiskey Run, and May 29 with Special Blend Experience. Bring your own lawn chair and dance away. In addition to music, the Chicora Car Club will host a classic car cruise-in each night. Limited space is available. Spring Live Music Series
- When: Every Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. throughout May
- Where: Barefoot Landing, 4898 Hwy. 17 S. North Myrtle Beach
The Spring Live Music Series continues through May. Various local groups of all genres will perform in the Dockside Village at Barefoot Landing. Grab a complimentary chair (while supplies last) or bring your own and settle in for free entertainment before or after enjoying dinner at one of Barefoot Landing’s many restaurants.

Live Music At The Brewery
- When: Fridays in May from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Where: Crooked Hammock Brewery, 4924 Hwy 17 S, North Myrtle Beach

Motown Tribute Show-Motor City Musical
- When: Various May dates with showtimes at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.
- Where: GTS Theatre, 1220 Port Drive, Myrtle Beach
Come celebrate 60+ years of Motown Music with an evening of soulful entertainment as you go on a musical journey through the history of Motown. Motown is a genre that broke down social barriers and infused the music of the ’60s and ’70s with life and rhythm.
Ocean Drive Beach Music Festival
- When: Saturday, May 2, gates open at 10 a.m.
- Where: 96 S Ocean Blvd, North Myrtle Beach
Make plans to attend the 8th Annual “Ocean Drive Beach Music Festival.” Scheduled to perform are Band of Oz, Jim Quick & Coastline, and The Commodores. The emcee will be Master of Ceremonies, Hall of Fame DJ Chad Sain, along with The Surf DJs/Show hosts. Chairs and coolers are permitted. This event is rain or shine.
Yoga In The Yard
- When: Sundays in May from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
- Where: Crooked Hammock Brewery, 4924 Hwy 17 S, North Myrtle Beach
Join Yoga in the Yard at Crooked Hammock Brewery on Sundays. At the end of the week, everyone needs some time to re-center themselves and cleanse their spirit. The Yoga in the Yard series with Sea Yoga will guide you through a relaxing physical & mental workout. All levels are welcome, and remember your yoga mat! Your first beer is included with your reserved spot (21+). Spots can be reserved for $23+ each.
Cinco De Mayo Events
Myrtle Beach Cinco De Mayo Bar Crawl
- When: Saturday, May 2nd
- Where: Various Bars in Myrtle Beach
Join the bar-hopping ritual for a parade of tacos and tequila. Round up friends and get tickets for admission to some of the area’s finest beach bars. At some venues, you’ll get a custom digital map, exclusive drink/food specials, and live music. You could win prizes in a photo contest, too. Taco Mundo Cinco De Mayo Weekend Fiesta
- When: Tuesday, May 5th at 12 p.m.
- Where: Taco Mundo at Barefoot Landing, 4732 Hwy 17 S, North Myrtle Beach
The biggest fiesta on the Grand Strand is back again for another Cinco De Mayo celebration! The party begins at 12 p.m. with a human piñata and prize giveaways. Try tacos from around the world and sip on fresh margaritas, while listening to live music performances from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. featuring Kelli J & Laranza and City Lights.
Cinco De Mayo Festival at Fiesta Mexicana

This weekend-long event blends the area’s long-standing reputation as a premier golf destination with the excitement of hosting a stop on one of the world’s top professional golf tours. Ballroom Dance
- When: Thursday, May 7, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Where: St. John’s Hall, Myrtle Beach
The Ballroom Dance Preservation Society hosts several events every year. Come dance or just watch in casual clothing and a comfortable pair of shoes (leather or suede bottoms are best). A fancy gown or tuxedo is not required. You may bring snacks to share at your table; water is provided. Tickets are $10 each for members and $15 for non-members.
Sips & Wreaths at Brookgreen Gardens

Spend your Myrtle Beach evening creating a beautiful summer-themed wreath using succulents. This instructor-led workshop is all about learning how to arrange your dream wreath and care for it long after the class is over.
Spring Myrtle Beach Bike Week

For the 87th Annual Bike Week, the Grand Strand becomes a hotspot for motorcycle enthusiasts and cruisers. Each rally includes tons of bike shows, area tours, vendors, and much more.
World Famous Blue Crab Festival
- When: Saturday, May 16th, and Sunday, May 17th, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Where: Historic Little River Waterfront
Join the 44th Annual World Famous Blue Crab Festival, one of the largest festivals in the Southeast. It’s consistently been awarded the Best Annual Event/Festival on the Grand Strand for 8+ years. Bring your family & friends to enjoy fresh, local seafood from a waterfront restaurant or get your favorite festival food fix. Enjoy scenic views, live beach music, arts and craft vendors, and other activities. Satellite parking and a shuttle are available. Come be a part of the festivities and enjoy a day out along the coast. The festival is $10 per person, per day, with children 12 and under free!

Brookgreen Gardens Memorial Day Weekend Run

- Where: Brookgreen Gardens
Join the 13th Annual Brookgreen Garden 5K run/walk! Or choose the virtual option and run/walk with them from your location! Run between the beautiful oak trees and the scenery of Brookgreen Gardens during Memorial Day Weekend. Located south of Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet, this run is one of the few evening races in the area. Register for the 5K and compete for prizes here.
