Things to Do in Myrtle Beach in May

We’ve rounded up the biggest events and things to do in Myrtle Beach in May. This year’s big events include 5Ks, a world-famous seafood festival, and spring celebrations! As summer weather continues to approach, these festivals and events are a great way to get out and enjoy the warm Myrtle Beach weather.

When: Saturday, May 4th; 11 am - 7 pm

Where: Downtown Conway


Enjoy live music, cold brews, delicious food, and festival vendors along downtown Conway for this year’s Rivertown Music & Craft Beer Festival. The live music lineup includes The Winchesters, Chocolate Chip and Company Band, Special Blend, and Sweet Sweet. There will also be a car show and a beer tasting zone. Admission is free.

Senor Frogs Cinco de Mayo 5K

When: Saturday, May 4th; 8:30 am

Where: Senor Frogs at Broadway at the Beach


For the seventh year, Senor Frogs at Broadway at the Beach will host its Cinco de Mayo 5K. This double loop race will take participants around Broadway at the Beach, ending with complimentary breakfast, live music, and awards at Senor Frogs. Cinco de Myrtle

When: Saturday, May 4th and Sunday, May 5th

Where: Burroughs & Chapin Pavilion Place


Welcome the summer season and celebrate Hispanic culture at this year’s Cinco de Myrtle event! This two-day festival will take place in the heart of Myrtle Beach and will be an excellent choice if you’re looking to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Stay tuned for more information!

Mayfest on Main

When: Saturday, May 11th

Where: Main Street, North Myrtle Beach


North Myrtle Beach will be hosting its 14th annual Mayfest on Main Festival on Saturday, May 11th from 10 am to 6 pm. This annual spring festival is a great way to enjoy food, fun, and festivities on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach with family and friends. The festival will have live music from David Victor—formerly of the band Boston—as well as the bands Nelson and Blue Monday. The festival will include a children’s area, festival vendors, and more. So grab the family and some beach chairs and head down to Main Street for a day of family-fun entertainment.

Where: Field at Pelicans Ballpark


May will be packed with Myrtle Beach Pelicans baseball. Join the fans at Field to cheer on the Pelicans and enjoy a family night out. In addition to a great game, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans fans can come out early and enjoy a meet and greet with the players. After the games, hang around and let the kids head out onto the field and run the bases. This year’s home series scheduled for May 2019 includes bouts with the Salem Red Sox, Winston-Salem Dash, Down East Wood Ducks, and Potomac Nationals.

World Famous Blue Crab Festival

When: Saturday, May 18th and Sunday, May 19th; 9 am - 5 pm both days

Where: Historic Little River Waterfront


On May 18th and 19th, the 38th Annual World Famous Blue Crab Festival will be held just north of Myrtle Beach in Little River. With thousands of visitors visiting each year, this world-famous festival is the largest of its kind in the Southeast, and for a good reason. The Blue Crab Festival provides day-long entertainment for children and adults, with specialty food samples, arts and crafts vendors, and a number of other activities. Come be a part of the festivities and enjoy a day out along the coast.

2019 Corvettes at the Beach Car Show

When: Friday, May 31st - Saturday, June 1st

Where: Broadway at the Beach


For fast cars and sleek rides, head to Broadway at the Beach for the 24th Annual Corvettes at the Beach Car Show. The festivities begin on Friday, May 31st with the Pre-Car Show Party, held at Landmark Resort, this year’s host hotel for the entire event. The party will include dinner, a live DJ, and a dance floor. The car show will be held on Saturday, June 1st, with awards including Best in Show and Longest Distance Traveled, food and auto vendors, door prizes, and entertainment. Spring Myrtle Beach Bike Week

When: May 10th - 19th; May 24th

Where: Myrtle Beach area


For two weeks in May, the Grand Strand becomes a hotspot for motorcycle enthusiasts and cruisers. Each rally includes tons of bike shows, area tours, vendors, and several hangouts to catch up with friends and have a good time. The first bike week is set for May 10th through May 19th with the second bike week being held the weekend of Friday, May 24th.

Brookgreen Gardens Memorial Day Weekend Run

When: Sunday, May 26th; 5:30 pm

Where: Brookgreen Gardens


Run between the beautiful oak trees and scenery of Brookgreen Gardens during their Memorial Day Weekend Run 5K and 1-mile race. Located south of Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet, this run is one of the few evening races in the area. Registration for the 5K is $30 and registration for the 1-mile race is $20.
