The Best Places in Myrtle Beach to Watch a Sunrise or Sunset with Infographic

By Samantha Norton

Myrtle Beach is the perfect place to view sunrises and sunsets. With the sun rising above the glistening water every morning, the display of colors can be breathtaking. When the sun sets each day, the position of the clouds creates a spectacular painting of oranges, pinks, and blues across the Myrtle Beach sky.

Knowing where to go watch a sunrise or sunset in Myrtle Beach is crucial to maximizing your experience. If you don’t have a good view you will miss it all!

Here are the top 3 places in Myrtle Beach where you can go for an amazing view of the sunrise or sunset:

Ocean Creek Resort | Sunset

Ocean Creek Resort offers amazing views of the sun setting over the creek and dunes that line the beach. Ocean Creek is just before North Myrtle Beach, the beach in front of this Myrtle Beach resort is the perfect place for viewing the sunset. Grab your camera and position yourself just a few feet north of the creek on the beach for the best shots. You’ll be amazed at how beautiful it can get. The colors are fleeting so be sure to be there for the whole thing.

Any pier along the Grand Strand | Sunrise

You can watch the sunrise from any pier in the Myrtle Beach area (2nd Avenue Pier, Pier 14, Pier at Garden City, to name a few) they will create a beautiful foreground for your Myrtle Beach sunrise photos. As the sun rises above the water, you can play with the light shining through the wooden pillars of the pier or stand farther away for a full-on pier view. Many local photographs have captured stunning pier sunrise photos in Myrtle Beach and you can too!

Oceanfront/Oceanview Balcony | Sunrise

When you book your Myrtle Beach vacation at an oceanfront resort (and be sure to book an oceanfront room), you are practically guaranteed spectacular views of the sunrise during your vacation! Resorts do not assign your room number until arrival, but you can put in a request for a higher floor during the booking process. While the request isn’t guaranteed they will do their best to honor it. The higher up your room is, the farther you will be able to see across the ocean and down the beach for each sunrise during your vacation. Even on a lower floor, the views will still be amazing. Just roll out of bed, grab a cup of coffee and take it all in from your balcony. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of watching the Myrtle Beach sunrise.
