Myrtle Beach Area Christmas Events - 2017 Guide

If you are planning a vacation to Myrtle Beach this November or December, you will want to check out the various 2016 Christmas events and shows that are taking place in the Myrtle Beach area - including Murrells Inlet,  Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, North Myrtle Beach, and even Conway. We've compiled a list of area festivities to help you get ready for the holiday season.

Christmas Shows

The South’s Grandest Christmas Show
Where: Alabama Theatre, North Myrtle Beach
What: Holiday musical with special effects including traditional and contemporary Christmas songs.
When: Shows run from Nov. 1 to Dec. 31

The Christmas Show of the South
Where: The Calvin Gilmore Theater, Myrtle Beach 
What: A newly worked production every year, including vocalists, a holiday brass section, and beautiful decorations in the lobby, including more than 35 Christmas trees.
When: Shows run from Nov. 1 to Dec. 31

Legends in Concert Holiday Show
Where: Legends in Concert Theater, Myrtle Beach
What:  A Christmas tribute to Rod Stewart, Dolly Parton, Nat King Cole, Elvis, and the Blues Brothers.
When: Shows run from Nov. 2 to Dec. 31.

Christmas at Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show
Where: Pirates Voyage
What: Retelling of A Christmas Carol (with pirates of course), live nativity scene, and a four-course holiday feast.
When: Shows run from Nov. 9 to Dec. 31

Dickens Christmas Show & Festivals
Where: Myrtle Beach Convention Center
What: Santa, entertainment, and shopping with vendors in historic costuming.  
When: Nov. 9-12, begins at 9 a.m. except starts at noon on Sunday the 12th

The Nutcracker
Where: Beach Church Auditorium (November) & Conway High School Auditorium (December)
What: The Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre presents The Nutcracker
When: November 25-26, December 16-17


33rd Annual Intracoastal Christmas Regatta
Where: Little River Inlet (5 p.m.) to Dock Holidays Marina (7 p.m.)
What: Watch from anywhere along the waterway as the boat parade passes.  Please consider bringing a new toy for donation collection at any of the area marinas.
When: Nov. 25 at 5 p.m.

Ripley's Attractions Myrtle Beach Holiday Parade
Where: Ripley's Aquarium, around Broadway at the Beach, to WonderWorks.
When: Dec. 2 at 11 a.m.

North Myrtle Beach Christmas Parade
Where: Main Street in North Myrtle Beach
When: Dec. 2 at 5:30 p.m.

Murrells Inlet Christmas Parade
Where: Sunnyside Avenue, down Business 17 to Wachesaw Road in Murrells Inlet
When: Dec. 3, 3 p.m.

Conway Christmas Parade
Where: Downtown Conway
When: Dec. 9 at 10 a.m.

Surfside Beach Christmas Parade
Where: Ocean Boulevard/Surfside Drive in Surfside Beach
When: Dec. 9 at 2 p.m.

Light Displays

Festival of Trees
Where: Ripley’s Aquarium, Broadway at the Beach, Myrtle Beach
What: Beautifully decorated Christmas trees with state themes.
When: Nov. 5 to Dec. 31

Nights of a Thousand Candles
Where: Brookgreen Gardens, Murrells Inlet
What:  4,500 hand-lit candles and thousands of lights decorate a beautiful sculpture and botanical garden.  Enjoy live entertainment, and each night they light a 70-foot tall tree that grows on the property and has 70,000 LED lights.  If the weather is nice, go early to avoid the line!
When: Nov. 30, Dec. 1-2, 7-9, and 14-17 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Rivertown Christmas Celebration
Where: Downtown Conway
What: Santa, carriage rides, candlelight shopping, window displays
When: Nov. 30, Dec. 7, and 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Christmas Wonderland
Where: North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex
What:  Six attractions including a family circus, paintball, petting zoo, puppets, and hayrides.
When: Nov. 25 to Dec. 10, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday opens at 5:30 p.m.; December 15-31 nightly and opens at 5:30 p.m.

The Great Christmas Light Show
Where: North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex
What:  Drive through light show with 2 million lights, and Santas village with petting zoo, ice skating, treats, train rides, tube slide, Go Ape TreeTop Adventure, and visits with Santa!
When: Drive through open Nov. 24 to Dec. 31, gates open at 5:30 p.m - 9:30 p.m.; Santa's Village open Friday and Saturday Nov. 24 - Dec. 9, Nightly Dec. 15 - 31. (Closed Christmas Day)


Tree Lightings

Downtown – Boardwalk Tree Lighting
Where: Plyler Park
What: Carnival games, the Polar Express and Ripley’s Ruckus Drumline, make this event a must do.
When: Nov. 28 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Barefoot Landing Lighting of the Landing
Where: Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach, by the Christmas Mouse
What:  Fireworks, Santa, music, and caroling.  Bring a blanket!
When: Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.

City of Conway Tree Lighting
Where: Main Street in Conway
When: Nov. 30 at 6 p.m.

Surfside Beach Christmas Tree Lighting
Where: Surfside Beach Town Hall
When: Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.

Market Common Tree Lighting
Where: The Market Common
What: Santa will be there, with carnival games, food vendors, a drum line and more.
When: Nov. 18 6 p.m. – 8p.m

North Myrtle Beach Christmas Tree Lighting
Where: North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex
What: Santa will be there, and they will have kid-friendly activities and refreshments.
When: Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m.

A Very Broadway Christmas Tree Lighting
Where: Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach
What:  Music, comedians, and Santa.
When: Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. with Fireworks Show at 8 p.m.
