6 Big Tips to Plan Your Special Day

Attend a Myrtle Beach Wedding Show

A variety of wedding showcases are held throughout the year in Myrtle Beach. This can be a great time to gather beach wedding ideas, get prices, and meet with other brides-to-be. If you are from out of town, try to attend one of these events so you can meet vendors in person and gather more information and even get referrals. This will make it easier to compare prices and know exactly who you are dealing with.

The top wedding showcase events in the area are:

  • The iHeart Media Bridal Expo takes place at the beginning of the year in Myrtle Beach.
  • The Grand Strand Bridal Expo has taken the place of the Wedding Showcase. Hosted at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center at the start of the year. Check their site for up-to-date information about date, time, and the event venue.
  • If you can’t make it to one of the winter shows, check out Savvy Soiree Wedding & Event Showcase that takes place in the summer in Florence, SC.

Discover Myrtle Beach Wedding Ideas on Pinterest

Our Pinterest Board, Beach Wedding Ideas, is a community board where many people share ideas for beach weddings and low country aesthetics. Ideas on this board range from DIY projects to centerpieces, wedding dresses, photo ideas and reception hall decorating ideas.

By making your own pin board while planning for your wedding you can gather ideas and maybe even make some of the projects yourself. Be sure to collect shells from the beach whenever you can, because these come in handy when working on some DIY projects, many of which are very easy to do and affordable!

Creating a Pinterest board is incredibly helpful in the beginning when you’re trying to narrow down your ideas, theme, and colors to put it all together from the rehearsal dinner to the big event.

Secure Your Myrtle Beach Hotel Wedding Block

Another perk of hosting your wedding reception at a Myrtle Beach resort? Guests won’t have to travel far to make it to and from the party! Make it easy for your out-of-town guests to find affordable accommodations and figure out travel arrangements while they are in town by securing a block of hotel rooms at an exclusive rate just for your wedding guests.

Wedding blocks are available at all of the Vacation Myrtle Beach resorts, though availability and rates do vary throughout the year. Please discuss your individual accommodation needs well in advance at your resort venue to ensure rooms are secured in advance.

Pick The Perfect Time of Year for Your Beach Wedding

Picking the ideal time of year for a beach wedding can be tricky. While many brides in other destinations love the thought and convenience of a summer wedding, this is not always a popular time for an outdoor wedding in Myrtle Beach.

Carefully consider where your venue and reception are and what type of wedding you’d like to have before selecting your date! Just knowing if you’d rather take advantage of the outdoor space or have your special event indoors will help you narrow down the time of the year.

Winter Weddings

Winter weddings offer pristine beach views, uninhibited by groups on the beach, and rock bottom rates when it comes to booking your venue and hotel rooms. Average air temperatures during the winter range from lows in the 40’s to highs in the 60’s.

Summer Weddings

Summer weddings provide ideal beach time for your guests and ample opportunities to enjoy area events and attractions, like the many golf courses, though room rates are typically higher this time of year. Group rate discounts are not typically offered during peak season.

Average air temperatures in the summer range from lows in the 70’s to highs in the 90’s. Water temperatures in the summer average 85 degrees - perfect for swimming!

Spring & Fall Weddings

Spring and fall are what we call the “shoulder season” in Myrtle Beach and offer ideal weather for weddings. The only caveat of selecting a spring or fall wedding date is that these seasons are in high demand so be sure to book your venue and hotel rooms early!

Average air temperatures in the spring and fall range from lows in the 50’s to highs in the 70’s. Water temperatures during these months averages 75 degrees.

Familiarize Yourself With Local Myrtle Beach Wedding Regulations

Just like any other destination, brides looking to book a beach wedding will need to be familiar with local laws and regulations when it comes to weddings and events. A few laws to be mindful of include:

  • Commercially produced weddings are not permitted on a public beach. If you want to get married on the beach, Ocean Creek Resort is located outside of city limits and allows beachfront wedding ceremonies.
  • Couples can apply for and receive their marriage license at the Conway Courthouse, located at 1301 Second Avenue, in the neighboring town of Conway, SC. Their hours are 8 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday.
  • To receive a marriage license from the Probate Court, couples will need to file a marriage application, file a statement that they are legally entitled to marry, pay the appropriate marriage license fees, and observe the 24-hour waiting period.

Visit the City of Myrtle Beach website for more information on local city laws and regulations related to Myrtle Beach weddings.
